Hello, Fr. Serpa recently posted this.

He said this RCIA participants confession was valid. I am currently in RCIA, and baptized, but when I asked if mine was valid, Fr. David(Priest on CAF) said it wasn’t because of Canon Law 844, which Catholic ministers can only deliver the Sacraments to Catholic or something.

Help understanding?

You need to talk to your priest and ONLY your priest who knows all the circumstances of your situation-- not random people on the internet, even priests.

If you were already baptized, yes, your confession was vaid. You went to Confession in preparation for reception of Confirmation and Eucharist. That is the normal process.

Perhaps you misunderstood or their was some other context going on.

Canon law may restrict whether a sacrament is licit, but not whether it is valid. (i.e. Actually took place.)
