I have a question about Confession. Having lurked here a bit before registering, I know you get this subject a lot. Please help me if you can.

I went to Confession today with quite a few mortal sins. I also had one venial sin in mind while waiting in line. After confessing all my mortal sins, I paused (to consider my venial sin) and decided against bringing it up. I know it is better to confess it, but given the heavy nature of my other sins, it just seemed out of place to add it to the list. Instead of confessing this venial sin, I concluded with “… and I guess that’s about it.”

My Sacrament is still valid, isn’t it? I made sure to say the Act of Contrition (a few times) afterward, just to be safe. I know for a fact I have trouble with being overly scrupulous and I’m trying to get over it.

You are all set, all forgiven. Though it is a pious act to confess venial sins, it is not required. God bless you!

I love confession. Can’t wait until I go again!👍

It sounds like you were very careful with your confession. Only mortal sins need to be confessed for the sacrament to be valid, and it sounds like you know this already. Don’t worry about it.

Thanks very much to both of you. God is good, and it’s also good to be certain of what I already thought… God’s blessings!
