We had a visit from a couple of the seminarians that crossed more than half of Canada for the Pro-life cause.
For some details of their adventure see:
Crossroads

These young lads are a little sore but enthused about their cause and their upcoming ministries.
One thing they stressed is that the fight for the sanctity of life is a SPIRITUAL BATTLE.

There is also a walk going on south of the border in the US of A.
Brother Weber’s group will start from Vancouver. They’ll hit every major centre in Western Canada, curve around the Great Lakes, drop down into Toronto, move up the 401 into Montreal, circle back, and end in Ottawa on Aug. 14 with a pro-life rally in front of the Parliament buildings.
The U.S. walks start from Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles and follow northern, central, and southern cross-continent paths respectively, ending with a rally Aug. 14 in front of the U.S. Capitol building.
I promised to pray at least one Rosary for them and the unborn and those at the end of their lives.
I further promised to ask those at Catholic Answers to pray for the unborn as well. On this Feast of the Assumption let us pray for the unborn.

God bless, Reg.

I guess the walkers, both in Canada and in the US, completed their journeys this past weekend. I was a little concerned, because I first thought they were just starting out, and I was thinking that with a three month walk, the weather would turn foul in October and November. But it sounds as if all three routes were successful.

Here is a bit more about the Canada route, written about three weeks ago.
Along the way, the group speaks in local churches and is finding a very receptive audience particularly among young people who seem eager to learn more about the issue, he said.
He is sensing a definite shift in society’s views on abortion, said Weber. The number of abortions being done in Canada is “drastically going down,” he said. The group was also pleased, during a stop in Sault Ste. Marie, that no medical practitioners in the Sault perform abortions there. Now, when someone wants an abortion, a doctor is flown in from Toronto.
“That is a really a victory for that city.”

The walkers spotted some wildlife, including a grizzly (which didn’t bother them) and a mother moose which started acting defensive of her young, but then back off.

I was surprised that the very first reader to comment on the story wished that the walkers had been eaten by the grizzly!

I guess some Canadians have very strong feelings about the issue, and not all of them are pro-life. :o

I’m disappointed that I never heard of this 'til today. I wonder why it was not announced at our parish.

I applaud them. Well done. This proves its possible to end abortion even if abortion is legal in a country. Raise awareness in people they will respond.
