Good morning, everyone. My name is Cathy and I have a question regarding vasectomies and valid marriage. My husband is Catholic and I am not, but have gone through the RCIA process. We both were married previously and have received an affirmative First Instance Decision for decree of nullity. God willing, we want to have our marriage convalidated and I want to become a member of the Church. My husband had a vasectomy during his previous marriage. Can our marriage be valid?

Thanks for your (name removed by moderator)ut,

Cathy

Welcome to this forum.

Your husband** does not** need to have his vasectomy reversed, just in case you were wondering.

Your husband does need to confess his sin, then all is done.

Canon #1084 says that a vasectomy is NOT an impediment to a valid marriage and does NOT need to be reversed.

God Bless.

Thank you both so much for your replies. This has been weighing heavily on me for quite some time.
