You’re serving up softballs to them! Of course sex is the issue. You discerned that your family was the right size, and you did not want more children for whatever reasons …but you did not want to abstain from sex to achieve that end…hence the v. Make no mistake, sex is the issue.

The difference is in how you view sex vs. how they view sex.
I see your point…It is on how we each view it…It’s affects by what were taught/believe… And I guess it also can depend on the persons sex drive…

Why do you think it’s so hard for some Catholic parents to teach their kids properly??? My parent’s whom are 100% devout Catholics used contraception all the time my mother used to be on bcps since I could remember, up until I think she was 40 when she stopped because I guess my no longer alcoholic father returned to the church and found out what was wrong and right etc but when it came to us their kids, bcps and contraception is OK and even advised towards and you are judged when you don’t use them???

I don’t understand that one?!

Before I knew about the story of Oden I didn’t know pulling out was a sin! I thought it was the greatest thing! This is how my sister and her husband avoid getting pregnant…I still haven’t shared the story because they don’t want to hear it…Hello I am pg from my fiance unmarried how dare I open my mouth!!!

It’s ridiculous…And I know how contraception changes you…Your views your feelings your thoughts and how it can make you feel like something is missing from your life, sort of an emptiness of some sort…I felt it all the time I was married to my now exhusband especially because I was on bcps most of our marriage…It not only damaged me physically but emotionally…I didn’t cheat or anything, but we weren’t close his ability to manipulate me made me feel as if I was just an object of his, something he owned and did what he wanted with no matter what whenever he felt like it…

It was devastating…And I always felt I wanted something more something better deeper more meaningful! 😦

I can only imagine what it would have done to my exhusband if he would have been the one with the vasectomy…that’s pretty scary!

To the OP thank you for sharing your story, I am sorry you have gone through some terrible things but GOD willing all will be better and thank GOD for your wonderful wife! God bless!

Our experience is similar to Am2010.

To the OP…Your self destructive behaviors are not the result of the vasectomy. You have chosen a scapegoat for your decisions and behavior.

I suggest that you take a long honest look in the mirror. Own your mistakes and culpability or you are destined to repeat them.
Exactly the vascetomy may have made it easier for him to act that way to do the things he did. But it did not cause anything. His decisions were 100% his own. But really I have seen these sorta thoughts before. That vascetomies and the pill and other such things cause a lack of communication when it comes to the marital act or they make one see and treat ones spouse like a sexual object and not a person. And what it comes down to is no…it does not cause any of those things. It may make it easier but in the end people are responsible for their own actions. And like others have pointed out plenty of people have had vastecomies and such things and have not had the problems the OP had.

My dh had one 6 years ago and it’s been wonderful. We’ve always had a fantastic sex life but not worrying about getting pregnant makes it even better. We are very happy with the four kids we have.No regrets at all…
Our experience has been wonderful as well. My husband had his vasectomy 15 years ago. We’ve been very happy and have no regrets about the size of our family. We just celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary, and it just keeps getting better!

Yeah - exactly.

That could have also be achieved using NFP. Why not NFP, then?
