This in gonna be huge! Pope Francis might have a bombshell announcement to make next February! This could justify the delay of all actions related to national level regulations until the congregation of bishops looks into the matter next year.

Pope Francis may choose to announce his verdict in a volatile case of sexual abuse accusation that has already passed a canonical trial at a Vatican Tribunal and is awaiting appeal decision. I am talking about the case of Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron of Guam discussed at this topic:

Guam Archbishop appeals verdict Catholic News
If you follow the news, you may recall that here was a canonical trial against Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron that had been appealed. Pope Francis told the media recently that he will make a decision in the case: “I took it upon myself and I made a commission of canonists to help me,” Francis explained, adding: “It is a complicated case on one hand, but also not difficult because the evidence is very clear.” “But I cannot prejudge,” he said. “I’ll wait for the information, and then I will…
If Pope Francis announces to the congregation of the bishops next February that the Archbishop of Guam was smeared by professional trouble-makers, this would be a great shock for every Catholic! It would also be a huge game changer for sure!

Most recent analysis shows a mild result of the canonical trial with only minor restrictions imposed on Archbishop Apuron for overstepping clerical power. The violation could be related to a botched attempt to establish a Neocatechumenal seminary (Redemptoris Mater) on Guam. The seminary has operated on Guam under his supervision for many years but had to be closed because of unsustainability due to financial burdens in the diocese stemming from over 200 sexual abuse claims.

Pope Francis might have the information of an extensive plot to bring down the Catholic leadership of Guam by the state. If this information will be confirmed, then the congregation of the world’s bishops will learn that the current crisis, in fact, is a crisis of separation of church and state. More precisely, the crisis might be caused by a systematic effort by the state to bring down the church.

This is gonna be the bombshell to explode next February in front of our eyes!

Cupich and Wuerl collaborated on alternative sex abuse proposal

Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia said from the floor that the “metropolitan model” appeared to align closer with the Church’s hierarchical structure.

So it seems the delay may have been so an independent lay commission would not be the outcome.

I am torn. I have doubts the Bishops can patrol themselves. But having secular authorities police Bishops invites persecution and would they respect that many matters fall under the protection of the seal of Confession?

It’s also a possibility that I’ll win the lottery this week. 🤣
Okay, I wish you good luck with that… 😊

For several reasons, the scenario I proposed above is real. The Vatican’s strategy is to create a way to turn the situation around for its own benefit and for the benefit of some perceived reforms. It is a probable scenario that Pope Francis will take advantage of an opportunity if the opportunity is given. Please, also notice an unreasonable delay in announcing the verdict in the case of the Guam Archbishop. There must be a hidden reason for that.

The Vatican on the USCCB strategy to address abuse: “And to that end, Dan, I recommend that we set up an interdepartmental committee in Feburary with fairly broad terms of reference so that at the end of the day we’ll be in the position to think through the various implications and arrive at a decision based on long-term considerations rather than rush prematurely into precipitate and possibly ill-conceived action which might well have unforeseen repercussions.”

Are they kidding??? What happens, as in the case of McCarrick, the metropolitan IS the problem?

Call me naive,Cath, but in all honesty,I believe our Pope isn t fond of strategies of appearance.
If something has to be delayed or modified or whatever necessary, it has to,but not really because of a purpose of " image" or manipulation.

It is real, by no means manipulation. It should be according to God’s intention that the plotters in their reckless indulgence left enormous footprint behind. I gave some details in the other post. In short, the chronology of the build-up of a hate campaign and then sexual abuse accusations against the diocese’s leadership can be traced back almost day-by-day over a 2-year period of time. Everything has been recorded and revealed in a blog of the mastermind who was complacent enough to brag openly about his exploits. There is circumstantial evidence of fabrication of charges singling out and targeting an Archbishop that would require great wisdom and personal judgment to distinguish from real cases of sexual abuse by other clergy.

One particular thing that I heard about is that the plotters had access to a professional grade echelon program to steal information for their purposes from the Chancery and other places. It is revealing to consider who on earth can have access to these kinds of programs apart from wayward/ retired members of certain intelligence communities.

Pope Francis must have the full package of information about this well-organized plot. He has to use his high office and special ability to make justice. In a small place like this diocese, people know each other very well. A plotting machine cannot operate without people noticing. The bright daylight will disperse even the most thickly woven texture of darkness.

I understand you are worried about your Archbishop ,Cath.
If any delay is due to incoming info or something which serves a purpose of justice, then it is reasonable.
We all hope for the best, and they are delicate issues . Lots of suffering involved.

The plan stipulates that in those cases, it would go to the senior suffragan bishop.

I know a lot of people feel blindsided by this, but knowing that there is already a global meeting of bishops to discuss this in February assuages my concerns for the moment. Of course, the pressure is now really on for the February meeting to deliver results. We will see what happens.
