THE Vatican has begun moves to rehabilitate the Crusaders by sponsoring a conference at the weekend that portrays the Crusades as wars fought with the “noble aim” of regaining the Holy Land for Christianity.

The Crusades are seen by many Muslims as acts of violence that have underpinned Western aggression towards the Arab world ever since. Followers of Osama bin Laden claim to be taking part in a latter-day “jihad against the Jews and Crusaders”. The late Pope John Paul II sought to achieve Muslim- Christian reconciliation by asking “pardon” for the Crusades during the 2000 Millennium celebrations. But John Paul’s apologies for the past “errors of the Church” — including the Inquisition and anti-Semitism — irritated some Vatican conservatives. According to Vatican insiders, the dissenters included Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI.

The problem is that the Muslims ignore the aggression they’ve done in the name of Allah, so all they see is the responses to that aggressions:

Islamists like to use the Crusades as a smokescreen. I suspect that many of those in the West are tired of allowing them that smokescreen when the present violence perpetrated by Islamist terrorists is so bad.

We need to remember that the Crusades were a response to aggression, and not allow them to confuse the issue of what they’re doing now with a distortion of 1,000 year old events.

Our survival as a society depends on that.

I think the above should make the threat level clear enough. I just hope that people are paying attention, so we don’t get killed for nothing.

There is no evidence that John Paul II apologized for the Inquisition or the Crusades because they are morally defensible.

I have a question, do you think that Acts 5,1-5 have a justification about the inquisition, IMO is very interesting

"A man named Ananias, however, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property.
He retained for himself, with his wife’s knowledge, some of the purchase price, took the remainder, and put it at the feet of the apostles.
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart so that you lied to the holy Spirit and retained part of the price of the land?
While it remained unsold, did it not remain yours? And when it was sold, was it not still under your control? Why did you contrive this deed? You have lied not to human beings, but to God.”
When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last, and great fear came upon all who heard of it.

i get so sick and tired of always feeling guilty about something the church supposedly did. i remember seeing a picture of some white middle aged women in the holy land asking for forgiveness for the sins committed against the poor helpless muslims during the crusades. the muslim guy didn’t seem to care.

if there is anything worth fighting for, it is religion or ideology, and not power or money. we don’t get into heaven because we have lots of wealth, or cheap gas and a strong economy, or because we are republican. in the end, ideas and actions are all that matter. if only we have the zeal for our faith as our forefathers had, our society wouldn’t be getting torn apart by the dictatorship of relativism ushered in during the enlightenment.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the aim of the Crusades.

The Greeks were fighting against invaders and asked for assistance from the West.

Remember, all of what is now Turkey was once Greece, populated by Greek Christians.

Then a race from Asia, called the Turks, began to invade this land and take it over.

They were aided by Sacracens from Egypt and by Moors attacking Spain on Europe’s ‘left flank’.

So what exactly was wrong with assisting another nation with repelling invaders?

It’s not the it was the Sacracens, Moors and Turks who were there in the first place, but rather Christians and Jews.

The Crusades were quintessentially defensive. How did the moslems get to Tours in central France? The gates of Vienna? Budapest? Constantinople? Spain? Some would have us think they were always in those places.

Well, Im not sure EVERY crusade was justified…but a lot were partly…especially earlier ones

I contend that the main fault of the Crusades was that the Christian leaders of Europe lost heart and backed out before the job was done. This in no way condones wrongdoings by Crusaders, but rather points out that Islam as a major political force would not exist today if the Crusades had held out.

Belloc said in his book, The Great Heresies, that *“Catholic Christendom succeeded in recapturing Spain; it nearly succeeded (name removed by moderator)ushing back Mohammedanism from Syria, in saving the Christian civilization of Asia, and in cutting off the Asiatic Mohammedan from the African. Had it done so perhaps Mohammedanism would have died.”
*
The fact that the Europeans lacked the will to finish the job has left us in a real mess. That’s what calls for an apology.

A better way to put it may be that not every crusade was well planned or executed, and many acts by the crusaders were immoral or unjustified.

1575-1769 Redemptionist priests purchase the freedom of 15,500 Christian slaves taken in raids on European lands by the Navy of the Islamic Jihad. Most of those taken go unransomed, are beaten, bloodied, broken and are sold and resold from Algiers to Egypt, Ethiopia, Arabia, and Turkey.[lxxxix]

1575 Miguel Cervantes, author of Don Quixote, is captured as a galley slave for the Navy of the Islamic Jihad and loses the use of one hand.[xc]

*1600-1700 Spain and Italy lose 20% of their population in naval raids carried out by the Islamic corsairs.[xciii]

1622-1644 7,000 English abducted from British beaches and from ships by the Islamic Navy of Jihad.

1631 Islamic Navy of Jihad raids Baltimore in Ireland, sacking the town and capturing most of the inhabitants as slaves.[xciv], [xcv]

1640 Islamic Navy of Jihad mounts repeated attacks on Cornwall and enslaves 3,000 inhabitants in a year.

1628-1634 The Islamic Navy in the Mediterranean takes 80 French ships and enslaves 1,331 European men and women. “Beautiful women were given as gifts to the sultan, for his harem.[xcvi] Gunners, seamen, and shipbuilders were especially prized as slaves.”[xcvii]

1636 The Navy of the Islamic Jihad in the Mediterranean captures over 1,000 Englishmen in a mere six months. “When a Barbary galley drew alongside a Christian vessel, as many as 100 Janissaries swarmed aboard the Christian vessel and overpowered the crew.”[xcviii]*

Here’s something the West has ignored:
**Twenty-first Century African Slaves - In the Land of Islam **
chiesa.espressonline.it/dettaglio.jsp?id=7007&eng=y

Here’s how they treat those slaves - It’s hardly benevolent:

SUDAN
This young African Sudanese was kidnapped, and enslaved by radical Muslim raiders. Subsequently, his arm was chopped off by his master for the “crime” of losing a goat. To date, the Jihad in Sudan has claimed the lives of two millionAfrican Christians and animists. Thousands of other have been enslaved, raped, and maimed. Today there is a creeping genocide that threatens the people of Southern Sudan.

SUDANESE SLAVE ‘CRUCIFIED’ BY HIS MASTER NOT UNUSUAL IN CENTRAL AFRICAN NATION

*…“After brutally beating Joseph on the head and all over his body, the master laid him out on a wooden plank. He then nailed Joseph to the plank by driving nine-inch nails through his hands, knees and feet. He then poured acid on Joseph’s legs to inflict even greater pain, and finally left him for dead.”

Miraculously, Joseph did not die, even though he lay on the plank for seven days. He survived through the kindness of his master’s son, who brought him food and water, and eventually took him to a medical facility.

“In case you are wondering,” wrote Phillips, “no criminal charges were brought against Joseph’s master, because he acted within his ‘rights’ under currently practiced ‘sharia law.’ To say that Christians are second-class citizens in much of the Islamic world (not just the Sudan) is a cruel understatement.”

After Joseph returned from the hospital, his master saw little value in him since he was crippled from the nails being driven through his knees. Joseph was “redeemed” by Christian slave redeemers who arranged his return home to his village in Bahr el Gazal. *

assistnews.net/STORIES/2004/s04110038.htm

Of course, the MSM isn’t about to cover this. They don’t want to place their reporters in danger, or to have Mobs of enraged Muslims do the same things to their offices as they did to so many Western Press and Government Offices during the Recent islamic Cartoon Riots.

Intimidation Works!

At the very least, it makes people aware of their mortality. Ask anyone with a Fatwa against them.
