"Cardinal Bernard Law, who resigned in disgrace as archbishop of Boston over his role in the clergy sex abuse crisis, has been given a role of honor in the mourning for Pope John Paul II. "

I am very upset over this. Pope John Paul II should be spinning! But I guess since Cardinal Bernard Law protected known homosexual sexual predator Priests and then stalled the judicial process as long as possible to prevent the Catholic Church in Boston from being sued and losing millions of dollars, it seems the Holy See recognizes and awards a company man.

Cardinal Bernard Law rightfully belongs in prison, not leading a Mass this Monday at St. Mary’s Major Basilica in Rome in honor of Pope John Paul II! This inappropriate move by the Vatican is sending the wrong message to millions of Catholics and non-Catholics around the world!

In his book: ALL THE POPE’S MEN (c. 2004) author John L. Allen jr. tells of how Vatican Cardinals minimilize or re-direct the blame for the homosexual abuse scandal within the Church to a conspiracy of Jews and Masons, to American sexual hysteria, to phoney litigants, and a biased American legal system, anything not to acknowledge culpability of the Church by its homosexual Priests; so I’m sure Cardinal Bernard Law is seen as a good 'ole boy and a company man by the Vatican inner circle, why else would they allow an enabler to a position of honor?

Boston is still reeling from Ray ‘Mel’ Flynn, a super hypocrite; and now we’re having creepy Cardinal Bernard Law rubbed in our faces. I am not feeling very well as a Catholic at this very moment. :nope:

I’m not a Law fan (are there any? I mean, seriously), but our beloved Holy Father was the one who appointed him to be archpriest of St. Mary Major. He had all of his wits about him when he did it, too, so he must have had his reasons. I guess I’m astonished, and have been astonished all along, that the Cardinal didn’t and doesn’t retire into a monastery, for the sake of Holy Mother Church.

In due deference to the late Pope John Paul II, he must have been having a bout of senility when he appointed an homosexual child molesing enabler to a position of importance! Cardinal Bernard Law should be in Walpole State Prison (MCI/Shirley) Massachusetts right now!

A Prince of the Church does not belong in a monastery.

I think His Eminence has not been given a fair shake by the press. I don’t believe we’ve heard the true and whole story.

No. But this particular Prince of the Church belongs in the greybar hotel.

I think you’ll find Princes of the Church have often retired to monastic or charitible foundations that they themselves founded.

1 - The issue of Cardinal Law has been talked to death
2 - The Cardinal’s position has been talked to death
