Vatican I and II

What did they call Vatican I before Vatican II? They didn’t know there would be more “Vaticans” so to speak, so did they simply call it “Vatican”?

Like they didn’t call World War I “World War ‘1’” because they didn’t know there was going to be another. From my understanding, they simply called it the “Great War”.

The New Advent Encyclopedia (written in 1912) seems to refer to it as simply “the Vatican Council.” See for example newadvent.org/cathen/15303a.htm

I imagine if they hold another council at Trent, you’d have Trent I and Trent II.

Because it wouldn’t have made any sense to have Vatican II before Vatican I.
