Hello all:
Given that on October 11 was the 46th anniversary of Vatican Council II, I want to write an article on it for the school paper. This is a Catholic school, but very few of the students care about the faith. I have a regular column in the paper on religion, and have so far talked about the Catholic significance of Halloween, heterodoxy and dissent rampant in “Catholic” schools and colleges, and on the dilapidated state of the chapel and the disrespect it gets from students. I want to write an article telling the student body the straight up truth about VII. The good and the bad that came out of it. I need to present it such that it can be well understood. I may be a Catholic with traditionalist leanings, but I will write this unbiasedly. I want to put what the documents and council fathers really said, and how many took advantage of the situation with the “spirit of Vatican II.” I also want to critique those arguments from the far left and far right. If anyone has any starters or ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.**

have you read the council documents themselves? That would be a good start.

this article I believe will be of great use to you.
Be aware that this is site is from the SSPX which are not in communion with the Catholic Church.

I would suggest that you actually read the documents from the council rather than others opinions.

If you do chose to use this website listed then I would suggest that you also take up a positive view point, either website or book, and maybe compare and contrast the negative and positive views.

I admire your insight and courage. You seem to be quite knowledgeable about the situation already. Your proposed topic is huge, however, so it might be easier to focus on a particular aspect of Vatican II. For starters, I would recommend trying to get a copy of the book What Went Wrong with Vatican II by Ralph M. McInerny. Here is an excerpt from that book: ewtn.com/library/Theology/SIPVAT2.HTM
