Vatican II - the beginning of the end?

IMO, Mary promised peace when Russia was consecrated. According to the Vatican that consecration was done in 1984, 21 years ago. So, if it was done properly, where is the peace? The world is in near chaos right now, not peace.

Also, Sister Lucy was alledged to have claimed that Heaven approved of the consecration. How exactly did she know that Heaven approved? Did she have another visitation or vision or message? If she did, why didn’t she report on that? She cannot approve it for Heaven, so how could she know?

magicsilence,

The Church has never gone through times like these…never.

Hum… Do you have read about the Church before the Reformation?

Do you think than Alexander VI and Leo X were good popes?

Regretfuly the Council took place in the 60’s when society in general was going to hell. It was widely missinterpreted by liberal forces that wanted to turn us all protestant.Regretfuly our Holy Father Paul VI was not strong enogh to deal with the chaos and confusion that followed the council. Today the conservative forces in the church just want to forget about it and denigrate it when ever hey can.

I know somebody will probably disagree with me but that is ok because we all are here to discuss.

I honestly think the consecration of Russia could be done or not. It is very hard to say. Yes parts of the Church are in vast error. But a little known fact. Many young people take the Church very seriously and will carry the Church into the future with Orthodoxy. I know I will do my best. And I think you really do have to examine the Church now compared to the early Church, especially during the Dark Ages. History repeats itself. Its another Dark Ages. Just pray that the Lord will ease his wrath as nobody but the Pope and Bishops can consecrate Russia, if it has not already been done so. Plus, give it time. Maybe all the liberals and bad things are gonna set a chain of events that the Holy Father and officals can no longer tolerate and there will be an inquisition…I hope for one!

snowman,

Mary promised peace when Russia is consecrated. The world has not had peace in the years since she went the children at Fatima. Why would we think that is going to change? Mary promised peace, where is that peace?

Sarah,

I would say that the things this geneation is guilty of have never occured before in the numbers and type…abortion, euthansia, embryonic stem cell research, cloning, high divorce rates, incredible loss of faith among Catholics, forincation raised to a moral level, on-and-on-and-on…

Maybe the amount of peace is relative.Maybe this is mild compared to what could have been. I know we could argue this back and forth, but I believe my point is possible. Unlikely, but possible.

snowman,

If you study the statements Mary made you will see that she was quite clear. She told us that World Wa II would happen before the war began…the amount of accuracy in her statements at Fatima are absolutely stunning. She knew what peace meant because she told us of the coming wars if we did not follow the Lord’s will…peace was meant as a global peace, one that would be everywhere and would be a shocking transformation for the entire globe. It is truly sad that we have had to endure so many wars and problems simply because we refused to listen to the Lord’s will through Mary.

Can you picture a world where truly there is no war of anykind, anywhere, and where the Roman Catholic faith has returned to its place of glorifying God and is truly strong and rising? Well, that is the world promised by Mary when she said we must consecrate Russia.

In nearly all of the private revelations given throughout history, there has always been an reasable period of peace predicted before the coming of antichrist and the ultimate end times. It is quite possible that Mary was giving us a key to that era of peace and we have largely ignored that key. It is hard to guess what will take place now…perhaps no peace, only antichrist.

snowman,

Try to picture a world where nuclear and bio weapons no longer existed. Try to picture a world where we did not spend 1/2 trillion dollars on defense, but rather used those resoures to help people. Imagine not worrying about locking your doors or being scared to let your kids walk down the street…all of those things and more would be possible in a world filled with peace. We must not underestimate the incredible promise the Lord made through Mary at Fatima. We also must not think that peace is something humans can obtain on their own without God…it is simply folly to think that six-billion can get along without Divine intervention and help, which is why the secularist agendas are doomed to failure (because they do not include God).

It is worth being bold to receive such gifts for the world…imo.

Have you ever read Ives Dupot’s book Catholic Prophecy? It is pretty interesting. The book is composed of many prophecies throughout the history of the Church, along with a short commentary by the author.

His general conclusion (which I tend to agree with) is that there will be a prelude to the days of antichrist (great apostacy, etc.), but this this will pass, and a time of peace will be given before the real days of antichrist arrive.

I have another prophecy book, written by a priest in the 40’s, that says basically the same thing. The difference between the two books is that the book by the priest is much longer with many more prophecies. He gives prophecies that indicate the reason for the days of antichrist, as well as the prelude to those days, is because the clergy cease to preach the Gospel. Well, thanks to ecumenism those days are here. “No need to convert, let’s just try to get along”.

I tend to beliive that we are in the “prelude” to the times of the antichrist and that the promised period of peace will end the mess we are in. Peace will be granted, then another falling away. Time will tell.

If you remember, Our Lord appeared to a saint (I think it was Margarette Mary) in the 1600’s and asked for the King of France to consecration his country to the Sacred Heart. The King failed to do so and 100 years later his successor was beheaded.

When the Popes failed to consecrate Russia as requested, our Lord appeared to Sr. Lucy and said: “As the Pope have followed the King of France in his disobedience, so they will follow him into misfortune” (or something like that).

That certainly seems to fit in with the portion of the 3rd secret released in 2000. Just as the King of France (and his successors) refused to obey our Lord and paid the ultimate price, so too the Popes have refused to obey our Lord (just as He said they would), and will pay the price, which is what the part of the 3rd secret released in 2000 describes.

USMC,

I agree to a point. Most private revelations are conditional. We must do “A” in order for “B” to happen. We really do not know how things will go if we refuse to do “A” (in this case consecrate Russia). It is quite possible that God will not give us the time of peace because we have refused to obey His Will. I think it is not too late for us to be given that time of peace…and from what I have read that time of peace will be truly wonderful…

Then after the peace comes the really tough road to the Second Coming of Our Lord.

From what I gather in my own reading of the bible and from what I have been told, global peace will NEVER happen. At least, not until Jesus comes down and claims His rightful throne here on earth. Wars will get worse, there will be more and more TERRIBLE natural disasters, and people will become more and more hard-hearted thus turning further from God than ever before. Depression is more previlant, I believe, because the longer we are apart from God the further we feel from Him and our souls are sensitive to this. So we can pray for world peace all we want but until humans realize that we don’t rule the world, only God does, world peace cannot exist.

Im going to say this and I will just stay out of all this…unless there is something else small to say, but only as a reply.

Live the Faith, pray to our Lord, ask for intercession from Mary and the Saints, help others in need, do what you can to better the Church, the world, and yourself. I am taking the message of Fatima and using it to make things better where I can. I do not want to sit around waiting for world peace. It will happen when the Father says it will happen. I will do my best to make the world better, with the help of the Lord., while I am alive now. I ask all of you to do the same. One way or another, the end will come. It could be today, it could be tommorow, it could be another 2,000 years from now. Only the Father knows exactly how it is to pan out. Period. Maybe, just maybe, we can muster up enough good Catholics to promote the Faith and live it out. Maybe that can help, I sure think it can. So peace be with all of you and let’s ressurect the Faith.

I can see that you completely misunderstand Fatima’s place in the Catholic faith, but I’ll address each of your points in an effort to get you to stop listening to those who haven’t a clue what they are talking about:
To Della
First of all, Fatima is an approved apparition. That means the Church thought it important enough to look into the matter and decided that it truly WAS Our Lady.
No, the Church never says that any apparition of Our Lady WAS Our Lady, even if popes, bishops and priests use the coloquial expression “Our Lady said when she appeared at Fatima…” when discussing the message of an apparition. What the Church rules is that a particular apparition and its messages are “worthy of belief”, not “must be believed because Our Lady actually appeared and said thus and so.”
What would be the point in determining the authenticity of an apparition if no heed would be paid to the message brought by Mary?
Here, you are exaggerating to make your point seem unassailable. I never said that “no heed” should be paid to a message from Mary in an apparition. What I said was, and I’ll repeat it for those who don’t want to go back to my previous post, that the pope determines if and when any directives by any apparition are to be done or not. That is why he is the pope, not Mary nor the seer she appeared to.
Second, countless popes have tried to consecrate Russia since Fatima. If they didnt think that much of it, why did they bother?
Once again, you’ve misread me in your own mind. I never said the popes think little of the message of Fatima. Those are your words, not mine. I said, once again, that the pope decides what is to be done about any messages from any apparition delivered by any seer. Do read what I write and not what you want to read into it.

I find it very disturbing that you find it necessary to reword what others have written to make it sound like we are in direct opposition to you, when that is simply not the case. I think you’d better reexamine how you process what others write/say to correct this flaw in your approach or you won’t have fruitful conversations but shouting matches in which you learn nothing and the other person just gets frustrated answering things s/he never wrote or said.
Third, you are being very harsh to Sr Lucia. She has been nothing but obedient to the various popes throughout the years! Also, I think you need to recognize just how much of the bible was written by/talking about “seers”.
How harsh? By calling her a seer? She was a seer, what else should I call her? But, that’s not really the issue for you. Once again, and disturbingly, you aren’t saying back to me what I wrote but what you read into my words–a very dangerous and harmful thing to do TO YOURSELF, not to me. Of course she’s been obedient to all the popes during her lifetime, I never said otherwise. The problem here is that you don’t know the difference between private revelation and public revelation.

The seers of the Bible were delivering God’s public revelation to mankind. Jesus himself was the last “seer” to reveal God the Father’s public revelation, Jesus himself, to mankind. We are bound to believe this type of revelation which is a part of the Sacred Tradition of the Church.

As to private revelations, such as apparitions, we are NOT bound to believe them if we have good cause to doubt them. They are not binding on the faithful nor on the pope. No one has to do what Sr. Lucia said Our Lady requested us as individuals or the pope to do. Our Lady herself knows this which is why, in approved apparitions, never demands anything but asks that certain things be done and promises good things if they are done. But she herself, as an obedient daughter of the Church, submits herself to the rulings of the Holy Father. It is the pope who has the authority to decide what will be done in answer to any messages given by any seer from any apparition.

For your edification and education in this area of Church teaching I recommend “A Still, Small Voice” by Fr. Benedict Groeschel (you do consider him reliable, I hope!). It is easy to read and quite informative. You really are misunderstanding quite a few things here and need to educate yourself to the truth of what the Church teaches about apparitions and their place in the life of the Church.

It is the stubborn refusal to obey God’s will through Mary that has lead millions to die. I see that same atttitude being reflected in a good many messages on this thread.

Peace can, and will be had if we obey God’s voice through Mary. The Bible never says peace will not ever happen…it does say that wars, rumors of wars and natural disasters will take place.

I can understand Catholics not wanting to listen to private revelation, and they have every right to ignore them. However, when the Church formally approves revelations (like Fatima) it is folly (imo) for people to simply cast those revelations aside as if they are meaningless. If the Church gives formal approval, then that means the Church sees supervatural influence in those revelations (supernatural being from God)…so when we ignore approved revelations, we are ignoring the very voice of God…never wise.

If Mary says we can have peace, and if the Church approves that message (which it has), then that means we can have peace…period.

I am of the opinion that Vatican II was a moderate council. Not necessarily traditional but definitely not liberal. I think its the mentality that Vatican II produced, that it is okay to change tradition that damaged our Church. It is our job now to petition our Bishops to reform the reformation. Bring back latin, push back the altar, kneeling for communion and for God’s sake bring ban receiving communion in the hand unless you’re a clergyman!

And I agree, except for this opening statement: “It is the stubborn refusal to obey God’s will through Mary that has lead millions to die.” You know that no one is bound to believe or practice anything relayed through an apparition. You contradict yourself in your eagerness to support the message of Fatima (which I fully endorse and believe, too!). All we are trying to get the OP to understand is that he has some confused notions about apparitions and their place in the life of the Church. These confused notions are making him doubt the veracity of the Church itself, which is why it is very important that he be corrected in this–to keep him from being overwhelmed by the naysayers and dissidents who simply don’t want to submit themselves to the Church but consider themselves more Catholic than the pope.

Della,

Actually it took several years and much prayer and discernment for me to even accept the messages from Fatima. I do not take private revelations to heart unless they have been appoved and only after much prayer and study. I too rely upon Public Revelation, the Pope and Magisterium for the foundation of my faith. However, the sheer volume and accuracy of the Fatima messages is stunning and the clear path we have chosen leads me to say “It is the stubborn refusal to obey God’s will through Mary that has lead millions to die. I see that same atttitude being reflected in a good many messages on this thread.”

You see, I cannot fathom why NO Pope has ever properly consecrated Russia. It makes no sense to me on any level. We can argue all day about whether or not Heaven has accepted JPII’s attempt in 1984 (I do not believe it has), but the point is the sheer volume of attempts made by the many Popes tells us that they took the consecration request quite seriously and yet NO Pope ever took the steps Mary requested–not one.

All of that leads me to wonder why the many Popes never bothered to get it right adn what does that mean? If every Pope since 1917 took the request to consecrate Russia seriously, then why did none of them get it right, espeically since it is a very easy thing to do? It seems very disturbing to me to have the Church know that it should take a certain action (consecrate Russia) only to fail at doing it. As loyal as I am to Holy Mother Church, this point does deeply bother and concern me.

It is a simple act that could be done today by Pope Benedict XVI at the synod of Bishops…he has the audience of the worlds Bishops, he could do it right now…yet the Popes continue to not do it…I wonder why.

If (and I do say “if”) Mary’s statements about consecrating Russia are true (and her statements at Fatima have an incredible record of fulfillment), then many wars, etc., have occurred because Russia was never consecrated.

Finally, if a person desires to argue that the consecration was done in 1984, then they must be willing to give the proof of that consecration. Mary said the proof of the consecration would be world peace…we not only do not have peace, we have global chaos and a Church that it is tearing at the seams (hardly a picture of peace).

Della,

I am of the belief that the fate of the world is tied to the fate of the Roman Catholic Church, and that all peoples of the world will be blessed or chastised based on what the Church does, or does not do. Notice that Biblical prophecy is speaking about “the Church.” Therefore, the Church has a huge responsibility.
