"After the Vatican stopped: Bishopric of Trier will not reduce parishes from 900 to 25
TRIER, 26 November, 2019 / 4: 10 PM (CNA English).-

After the criticism from the Vatican, priests and believers, the bishopric of Trier will not reduce the number of parishes from around 900 to 35 as announced.

The project, known as the “parish of the future”, is not being implemented.

Bishop Stephan Ackermann suspended the decrees to repeal the existing parishes and communities and to establish the first 15 “giant parishes” on 1 January 2020.

In the course of a radical restructuring, the bishopric had intended to reduce the former almost 900 parishes to only 35. (CNA German has reported in detail)."

What, did he have one parishioner attending Mass at each of the 900 parishes? I could see cutting the number of parishes in half maybe, but 35?

Looking and finding any sense in the German Church is pointless in my opinion. I have had some experience of the Church there (as a member of the laity over the last ten years or so) and it is a “Looking Glass” world. Financially, it is strong, but it seems to be dying and caters only for very old German nationals and younger immigrant families from Eastern Europe (who are very devout and appalled at the state of things. Their loyalty to the Faith is the only bright spark available) Many of the hierarchy are complicit in this state of affairs, which is best illustrated by the recent “renovation” of the beautiful ancient seminary church of St. Michael in Wurzburgh. Search for “before” and “after” pictures and weep. Also try and find pictures of the new ugly Stations of the Cross icons there. You will be lucky to find any. If you do stumble on any, please look at the grotesquely blasphemous Seventh Station which depicts a sexual act! I have a photograph of this icon and I am not able to bring myself to post it here as it is truly, truly appalling. The rot started at the top and has all but devoured the Church there.

I have to say that I believe your interpretation to be wrong. The figure behind the fallen Christ is actually placing his right leg (and thereby his weight) on the long beam of the cross, with his left leg entirely on the other side of the beam stopping the the cross from being raised. There is no attempt being made to raise the cross and continue the journey to Calvary. This, combined with the demonic face of the male holding the cross down, gripping Christ on his waist and the forward thrusting pose of the lower body of the male (as opposed to the upper body which is more to the rear) pressing against the rear private part of Our Lord clearly indicates sodomy.

To me, it appears the man is not so much gripping, but pushing Christ down (open palms) - which is still unsettling given all the other things at work here.
