My commentary:

The Vatican has issued a stamp commemorating the 500 year anniversary of the “Protestant Reformation” featuring two heresiarchs, Martin Luther and Philiip Melancthon kneeling beneath the Cross of the Crucified Christ.

Here is what Martin Luther thought about the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass:

“I am convinced that…every pious conscience will be persuaded that this priest of the Mass and the papacy is nothing but a work of satan, and will be sufficiently warned against imagining that by these priests anything pious or good is effected. All will now know that these sacrificial Masses have been proven injurious to Our Lord’s testament and that therefore nothing in the whole world is to be hated and loathed so much as the hypocritical shows of this priesthood, its Masses, its worship, its piety, its religion. It is better to be a public pander or robber than one of these priests.”

In response, St, John Fisher replied:

“My God! How can one be calm when one hears such blasphemous lies uttered against the mysteries of Christ? How can one without resentment listen to such outrageous insults hurled against God’s priests? Who can read such blasphemies without weeping from sheer grief if he still retains in his heart even the smallest spark of Christian piety?”

Let us all imitate the saintly John Fisher and weep today from sheer grief as Rome celebrates the life and legacy of Martin Luther - the man who destroyed the unity of Christendom and whose false doctrines have led millions upon millions of souls down the road to perdition.

Are you sure this is real? If it is, it seems really inappropriate… celebrating the men who shattered Christendom into thousands of pieces…

This is outrageous, and Catholics across the globe should be “protesting” to the Vatican. Absolutely indefensible.

If this story is true, it is quite sad. May our Lord have mercy on the Church. Heresies can not be tolerated, nor can be seen in any good light. It is so because heresies separate souls from the truth of Christ. Martin Luther was a heretic, and was poisonous to the Church. This should have been a year of mourning and prayers for countless of souls lost because of Martin Luther—the heretic. My trust is in Christ who always protects the Church from the gates of Hell. Let’s humbly turn to our Holy Mother to help us and the Church.

Ok, that “stamp design” appears to be the painting over the door of the Reformation church in Wittenberg. Even if the Vatican were to issue a Reformation stamp, I cannot imagine they would use that picture.

I’m calling fake news till I actually see the stamp listed on the Vatican stamp site in the latest releases with a picture.

I’m flabbergasted.

What’s next, a stamp with Judas and Nero kneeling at the Cross? I know, Judas’ attritubute can be a bag of silver in one hand, and Jesus’ heart in the other. Neros’ attributes can be the head of St. Paul and Peter crucified upside down next to him!

How about a stamp with the Virgin Mary holding a little infant Hitler with a child Mussolini playing in the background?

While we’re at it, how about a stamp showing Satan and the anti-Christ in heavenly glory at the Throne of Christ?

What the hell were they possibly thinking?

Not being a member of the Church of Zenit, I will reserve opinion until confirmed by the Church to which I do belong confirms it.

What makes me skeptical is that this is the second time this story has come up and last time confirmation seemed elusive. There is also a story that Pope Francis is going to canonize Martin Luther.
 
I wish this stamp was also a joke or a hoax. Unfortunately, it isn’t. Nothing coming out of Rome surprises me anymore, though.
 
This is an outrage! The Vatican should not be placing a heretic on its stamps! Are Catholics celebrating the Reformation

I found some older rumors of this from almost a year ago. The picture on that one, not surprisingly, seems to be a stamp issued by Lithuania.
