This is not “fake news”. Sorry if this offends ultramontane sensibilities, but it’s quite real.

Because, why?

There is a link above to the Vatican website and the stamps released and for release for 2017, and it is not on there. I am open to more evidence, with sensibilities intact.

I think I read in the link provided it won’t be released until November 23rd. Maybe that is why?
Correct. According to Zenit, the Vatican Press Office announced that the stamp will become available on November 23, 2017.

Along with a stamp picturing St. Francis de Sales.

Whatever about stamps…I know the Irish Catholic magazine had a whole commemorative issue for the 5th centenary of the Reformation…or the great heresy as I like to call it.

I do not believe for one minute that the Vatican would issue such a stamp. I am trying to find where this stamp came from. and will get back.

Well, Zenit is claiming the Press Office stated all this today. Must have been stated on the phone to their reporter personally, if there’s no written release.

If this is true… God have mercy, for the scandal that is caused. Whoever is responsible will have a great deal to answer for.

“I am convinced that…every pious conscience will be persuaded that this priest of the Mass and the papacy is nothing but a work of satan, and will be sufficiently warned against imagining that by these priests anything pious or good is effected. All will now know that these sacrificial Masses have been proven injurious to Our Lord’s testament and that therefore nothing in the whole world is to be hated and loathed so much as the hypocritical shows of this priesthood, its Masses, its worship, its piety, its religion. It is better to be a public pander or robber than one of these priests.”

-Martin Luther
This is rather hyperbolic, in regards to Catholic Answers at least. The apologists at CA have never tried to make the Vatican “come away squeaky clean”, and I have even heard them speak of their concerns with many pastoral choices.
It would be far more damaging for them to come out in force and denounce the Pope or some action of the Vatican, since this would cause many more people to sin and perhaps lose their way.

I doubt it would be downplayed. The Vatican stamp office is in the business of selling stamps to raise money. This one would sell like hotcakes due to the controversy. It will get all kinds of coverage if and when it comes out.

The Scandal Stamp!!

…i don’t know…

I just keep waiting for Saint Catherine of Siena to show up, but she never does.

All the potential St. Catherines out there are promptly shouted down by the neo-con ultramontane mob.

I still do not believe this stamp will materialize if the Vatican did say they were going to release a Martin Luther stamp it is a sad day for the Church, yet if it is true the outrage of it would be enough to do an about face on this. I am waiting to see official confirmation. Send somebody who even thought to bring this about on a long retreat…God Bless us all.

Could be true. In the meantime, perhaps it’s not a bad idea to kick back and do some reading on the history of the Popes over the last 2000 years. I think the most consoling tenet of faith to keep in mind sometimes regarding the papacy is that ultimately the Holy Spirit is in charge.

To to the heading “Stamps” and look at

Stamp #16 which is labeled “5th Centenary of the Protestant Reformation”

What do you think those words “5th Centenary of the Protestant Reformation” might mean?
