Sirach14:
A Gay Priest felt “absolute horror”; a Straight Priest said “they’re embarrassed.”

And I say, “About time!”

“Several priests challenged that argument and noted that heterosexual priests face their own temptations: The overwhelming majority of lay ministers who work side by side with clergy are women, yet no one has suggested banning heterosexuals from the priesthood.”
Let me be the first to suggest banning women lay ministers. Can’t have Father being tempted while confecting the Eucharist. :tsktsk:

Honestly, I don’t think that men who are committed to chastity should be excluded from the priesthood, even if they have an attraction toward other men.

You don’t think that a man suffering from intrinsically disordered attractions has other issues he needs to deal with before pursuing the priesthood?

What other disorders should be ignored as long as a man is “committed to chastity?”

Well you know, perhaps those who have been diagnosed with Multiple Personality Disorder, may well be a blessing.
Every one is good people.
And hey, one personality can do the Cafeteria Catholic Mass at the Community
And the other can do the TLM at the traditional one.
So much for the shortage of priests.

As long as they can all remain chaste.😉

Applying this criteria–committed to chastity–then a chaste man whose SSA affliction would preclude him from freely and fully enjoining the Father role in the vocation marriage, could turn around though and be a viable and eligible candidate as Father to the flock of God’s children in the priestly vocation? This goes against every instinct of common sense and wag my head that something is amiss here.
