Vatican Message to Muslims for Ramadan

VATICAN CITY, SEPT. 19, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Here is a text published today by the Vatican of a message sent to Muslims by the president of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. The message was sent on the occasion of the end of Ramadan.

And will Mahometans send the Paschal greeting “Christ is risen!” at the end of Lent to Christians?

I just don’t get it. The Vatican does an awesome job of condemning abortion, so why do they ask Islam to “safeguard” their version of the dignity of the family?

Look at point #4 the Cardinal made in his letter on the link you provided and lets look at the facts.

They must know that in Islam, with the father’s consent, a 1 year old can be married, and though it varies, some Muslim clerics say girls are ready for intercourse by age nine. Muhammad himself married a six year old but waited until she was nine to have intercourse with her.

Nowhere in that letter did he invite them to abandon the false Islamic religion and embrace the truth which is found in Jesus Christ alone. In fact, I didn’t see any hint of the gospel in that letter. Lord, save us from false ecumenism! :signofcross:

No, because that would be heresy for them seeing as Muslims believe Jesus never died to begin with, let alone resurrected from said death.

I’m in the middle of reading the link, but so far I don’t see anywhere the Cardinal compromised his faith for the pure sake of well-wishing.

The real situations include the consent of the girl, woman, or elder. She must have her menses in order to have any type of physical intimacy with her spouse. She has the right to choose or refuse. No father can marry his daughter off to anyone without her consent…be it for money, livelihood or likewise~especially if she is refusing!!.

You find many ignorants in Islam and they do not bring forth all the correct daleels/proofs. To say one thing and leave another out without telling the whole story, can hide crucial evidence to the other side. This you find going on all over the place.

what does this have to do with this thread anyways! Or just to bring it up out of arrogance or prudence or what??

Blessing someone to be filled with mercy and peace …by God …
would they still be in the hate filled brand of Islam or more amenable to hearing The Voice of The Father …who wants all to be brought to Him …and may be in the not so distant future , we in The Church(s) too would truly bless each other from The Heart …that we too may be One …for The Miracle that would come with it !

It would be hard, since unlike Papists they don’t have a central authority.

I’m glad the Vatican is trying to find common ground between Muslims and Christians, because truly we have much in common, including a joint struggle against secularism.

Then maybe you should write to this Muslim Cleric and every one of them that hold to this view and tell him(them) he is in error.

**Please understand that there is less hatred or no hatred of Jesus or Mary or the real teachings of Jesus. But there is plenty of hatred against Islam and Muhammad. Any one can see it here on the net.

It is better that both parties should refrain from passing any derogatory remarks against each other. Now that Vatican has taken a good step, the Catholics should follow suit with good wishes. And wait for the result.

A good deed is never wasted. Vatican has sown the seed. It will grow in time (it will take time). Result will be good. It is silly that the three Abrahamic religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam are not co-operating with each other. There should be full co-operation. Some people start a bad line and spoil the show. The others retaliate.**
