Thanks for the link.
But I think that link is accurate. It’s a news report that makes it look like the Holy See compromised and it’s an area that could touch on doctrine.
I had previously linked directly to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops site

The story is actually a good news story that the Bishops finally cooperated with the Holy See. The other article quotes a “feminist theologian” and is secondhand info whereas the CCCB link goes straight to the source.
They will now read a modified NRSV at Mass that corrects the gender inaccuracies of the standard NRSV.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong or if you have more info on this.

I found the quotes from Archbishop Weisgerber very troubling.
Of course inclusive language was the major issue. It was the reason for the problems in the current lectionary, and the NRSV to begin with. The misplaced zeal in implementing it tainted both the lectionary and the NRSV. Saying it wasn’t the major issue is like saying the knife isn’t a major issue in a stab wound.
But his comment that neither priests nor laity would notice any difference was just downright insulting. Does he think we are ignorant? That we don’t care? That we are stupid?
Shame on him!

From what I’ve heard, it was a approved with changes (much like the NAB’s approval for us as a Lectionary text)
The Lectionary will us the first person male pronoun ‘He’ to refer to God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), but permits the use of the word ‘people’ as a substitute for ‘men’, and "brothers and sisters’ for ‘brothers’

Not psycho-babbly enough.
Actually, the RSV is excellent for study, but not the smoothest for reading. It’s choice of syntax, made to conform as closely as possible to the original language in the manuscripts, makes it that way.
Still, I’d gladly trade some flow for accuracy. I don’t nees an academic or psychologist telling me what the writers of Holy Scripture “really” meant to say. In fact, how dare they!

One of the Caribean nations adopted the RSV-2CE as it’s lectionary text. It is currently the only text that was approved by the Vatican without any changes.Why did they not use the RSVC. second E?
Every other English language text (including the NAB) requried textual changes before they were deemed suitable for use at Mass.
