A “celebration of schools" with 300 thousand people in St Peter’s Square. The school must “open up students to reality”, teach “customs and values, together with knowledge”, in so far as they are “a place of encounter on the journey” of life , “and today we need this culture of encounter to get to know each other, to love one another, to walk together”.

It’s nice to hear the Pope say that. Essentially that boils down to what’s known as the “Classical Curriculum”.

In the United States, it’s too bad even many local diocesean (sp?) school programs are implementing a “Catholic” version of Common Core. So we’re swapping goodness, truth, and beauty for being college and career ready. Oh joy!
 
Glad he said this, I wish it was a little more specific, but it’s good nonetheless.
