Former pope draws close to declaration of sainthood
Vatican City, June 18 - The process of declaring former pope John Paul II a saint took a major step forward Tuesday, when the board of theologians of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints approved his second miracle. Now, the proclamation of his sainthood needs only the approval of the commission of cardinals and bishops and the final signature of Pope Francis, Vatican sources have told ANSA. It seems likely that John Paul II - who was beatified on May 1, 2011 - will be proclaimed a saint on October 20, approximately the 35th anniversary of his election as pope. The first miracle attribute to John Paul was an “inexplicable cure” - the first of two steps on the path to sainthood. The pontiff’s successor Pope Benedict XVI, who abdicated earlier this year, sanctioned the beatification after a Vatican commission officially attributed as a miracle the inexplicable recovery of a French nun, Sister Marie Simon-Pierre, from Parkinson’s Disease. The Vatican ruled that that came through the intervention of John Paul II. The second miracle that will be attributed to him remains a closely guarded secret but sources say it will “amaze the world”. The Catholic Church has been keenly awaiting the canonisation of the charismatic John Paul II, one of the most popular popes in history, since he died in 2005 aged 84.
 
All I can say is WOW. Vatican officials say it will “amaze the world”?! you know what this means? It means that this miracle probably it won’t be an ordinary cure but something that the world can see as miraculous with their own eyes. I can’t wait.

I do hope the Holy Father John Paul the 2nd does become a saint, I didn’t really pay that much attention to him or even my own faith during his life time, but can tell he has influenced and changed many lives for the better, an it is indeed a great blessing that his miracles are indeed being recognized, but more over the miracles need to in turn be focusing us back to Christ not focusing on the individual how does any miracle strengthen our faith in Christ ! ?

Right now my life is in so much turmoil, hearing about others miracles or what ever, really doesn’t mean much to me at all. I seriously doubt that what ever this secret miracle is, will really change my life any at all. This one nun has received a well deserved miracle, Christ gave mercy to her, and that is wonderful,

how do others with parkinsons draw strength from that, how does anyone who is struggling in life with any disease , or problems who pray constantly for a clear miracle and are left in the trenches of the struggles of life, how are we supposed to draw strength and hope from others miracles ?

how come something so great as news such as this has not consoled me at all with the problems i am facing now.
 
I’m excited I love pjpii! I have a piece of his cassock that ill have to display in my house once he’s pope!

Fantastic!!! He was a brilliant pope. Amazing what God is doing in the soul while we go about our routines. Always knew he was a saint. 🙂

It was apparently a medical cure. The first hint that we got of this is the fact that the doctors’ panel was convened to examine the evidence. If it wasn’t a healing, then wouldn’t another type of panel be convened? Also, healings are the most easy to declare a miracle.

I wonder if this will be announced at World Youth Day.
 
Hopefully the news of Our Holy Father John Paul II will give everyone another pause during our earthly life and we will have our Faith uplifted for our Eternal Life. Its really not complicated and doesn’t hurt at all. The Communion of Saints are friends of Our Lord and are in Heaven to be friends of ours as well. Learning about their lives and telling them about ours, asking them to pray for us, can make all the difference for us. Why not try it and put your trust In God. God speed.
 
The panel who investigated the first alledge miracle were not in agreement that it was a true miracle.

Those two ideas are highly contradictory, are they not?

How can one suffer a “relapse” if they didnt have something to begin with? A relapse is regression, falling back to what was.

It sounds like the medical panel was inconclusive, which is equivalent to them saying “we dont know.”

I’m not an MD, so I’m not familiar with how they use “syndromes” as being different from the disease itself. the Guardian article said “similar nervous disease.”

information about the return of the disease was only in one article, nothing that I found recent, but maybe its there or elsewhere.
