I stand corrected. But seeing it in context, they are clearly pretty limited and lower than that of people if there’s ever anything sort of conflict.

Yes you’re right. I was thinking that when’s I typed my response. I should have made that clear. I’ll chane it.

Never mind: I’ll just delete it.

Actually, Hindu dairy farmers do eat beef, which is why high caste Hindus look down on them.

There is a very good book about this, but I will have to look it up.
There is a very complex background to Hinduism and cows. Some Hindus do eat beef but they are in the minority. I’ve read even among lower caste Dalits, beef consumption is rare, relatively speaking. It’s also quite interesting to see many Indian states banning the slaughter of cattle, which adds another level of complexity.
I should also point out from what I’ve read, the vast majority of Jains are vegetarians but also consume dairy. But veganism appears to be growing among them because of modern practices.

I am not a vegan for ethical reasons. I went plant based for health reasons. But even before I went vegan I ate meat sparingly. Lots of cultures consider meat a delicacy, not for everyday consumption. There is a diversity of thinking on meat consumption. Not all vegans chose that diet for the same reasons. Apart from having much better blood tests at the doctor, a vegan diet has had the side benefit of bringing me and my family closer together. There aren’t a lot of convenient options for vegans and you end up making meals at home. We spend more time together making meals and enjoying them together. But I mostly feel grateful that I live in a place that has the abundance of food that allows me to chose what I can eat to survive.
