I know veiling is right. when should I start veiling? im still in rcia classes right now. and is it ok to use infinity scarves?
If you feel called to cover your head in church, any method of doing so - veils, hats, scarves, etc.- is perfectly acceptable for doing so. I would start now. Even if you are still in RCIA, the Mass is still the Mass and your faith in the Eucharist is still the same. If you wish to cover your head out of respect for Christ in the Eucharist, there is no reason to wait. It is a beautiful tradition.I know veiling is right. when should I start veiling? im still in rcia classes right now. and is it ok to use infinity scarves?![]()
Maybe its just me, but I find “I know veiling is right,” as having the potential to be troubling. When you claim you know it to be right, you implicitly claim that not veiling is wrong.I know veiling is right. when should I start veiling? im still in rcia classes right now. and is it ok to use infinity scarves?![]()
I don’t understand why folks here get so defensive about veiling. The woman isn’t even Catholic yet, and thinks that veiling is right, but she hasn’t put in the necessary qualifier that “It’s right for me, but I don’t judge anyone else,” that some here expect. It’s very judgmental to be so defensive about veiling.Maybe its just me, but I find “I know veiling is right,” as having the potential to be troubling. When you claim you know it to be right, you implicitly imply that not veiling is wrong.
There is no doctrine or dogma that can support or deny the claim of whether veiling is right, or wrong.
If you want to, do so by all means. But if you view your decision to do so as more righteous than women who prefer not to, you have an issue with humility you might want to reflect on.
Peace and all good!
Veiling is not Catholic? LOLAlso, “veiling” is not actually a concept in Catholicism. With the possible exception of religious sisters. If you desire to cover your head, you may choose to do so with anything you’d like: a scarf, a mantilla, hat, a bandana, or, if you really want to be authentic, a Kleenex.
However, as has been already mentioned, while head covering might be right for you, it is not right for everyone, and is certainly not a requirement of the Church.
“Veiling” or “covering one’s head”? I think many women hate the term “veiling”. Even we who grew up having to cover our heads each time we stepped into the church have a problem with a loaded word we never heard when we HAD to cover our heads.Veiling is not Catholic? LOL
I guess Holy Mother Church was wrong in making veiling a requirement for women with Canon 1262 in 1917.
sounds about right… that time period in the Church is know to have been very focused on minute details and imposing rubricsVeiling is not Catholic? LOL

The canon did not require veiling.Veiling is not Catholic? LOL

Or if you went to Catholic school, you were issued a beanie, color coordinated to match the uniform! :yukonjoe:The canon did not require veiling.
The requirement was for women to cover their head, not to specifically wear a veil. Many women wore hats, scarves (or in a pinch the proverbial Kleenex).
