In the subject of sex and sin, I noticed here it most always becomes categorized as mortal.
Code:
As we have weeded out the sexual mortals in every circumstances imaginable on this forum, it follows then we should be able to spot the isolated venial sexual sins at a glance.

What sexual sin would be considered venial given the fact that every sexual expression is a means that has an end purpose of ensuring mating.

Since sexual sins are almost always grave matter, a venial sin would likely arise out of a defect of knowledge or consent.

Say, a teenager who is poorly catechised and is unclear on the Church teaching on Masturbation. That could be venial.

Or impure thoughts that are not necessarily entertained, but you don’t fight too hard against them.

Or someone who engages in contraceptive or non-procreative sex b/c their spouse threatens to divorce them if they don’t; they could lack full consent.

Just my thoughts. Best determined with your confessor.

Couldn’t have said this better myself.

Things that are sinful and sexual in nature are usually cosidered grave matter, but where they fail the litmus test is in the full knowledge or full consent categories.

It is most always mortal if the intent is to en-kindle desires of lust.

It is venial if not acted upon…like when channel surfing you come across a movie channel which has a porno movie on (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime) Even if you stop and watch for a short period, and then change channels, that in itself shouldn’t be considered “mortal sin”.

Not exactly. Sexual sins are grave sins but lack of knowledge about them being grave would mean a person would not be committing a mortal sin.
In other words a mortal sin is always a grave sin but a grave sin is not always a mortal sin. However a grave sin is never a venial sin.
