Hi Cory,
It’s good you vented. Yes, what you went through must be very frustrating. When one is trying to do the right thing, and it all goes wrong, it sure doesn’t feel good.
Since you work on Saturdays and going to confession financially leaves you less to support your children, would calling your parish to make an appointment for confession for your day off work?
At our parish, the office was always so busy that they never seemed to be able to keep the information up-dated on the internet. One parishioner volunteered to take care of that, and it has truly worked out great. Another parishioner who used to work in an office was totally lost after her husband died. Someone mentioned that the office could use someone to volunteer some time to help with folding the bulletins. This woman decided to help, then answered the phone one day, then helped with something else, and now she has her own desk and is there everyday, helping the parish out tremendously, feeling needed and keeping her busy.
Yes, it is frustrating, and possibly your priest needs to be reminded that his flock are trying to do the right thing. So possibly people calling and needing to make an appointment during the week for confessions might remind him. Or possibly your priest is also frustrated with things that are going on in his ministry, his personal life, or with his superiors. I pray all involved think of kindness and of possible solutions that help all involved. God bless
