I’m a faithful person, and I usually have strong faith that gets me through hard times. But lately, I’ve been so frustrated and kind of angry with God. I have a lot of family members with cancer… my grandfather is dying, my uncle is dying, my aunt has advanced breast cancer, and my mother in law is undergoing testing for probable lung cancer. My younger brother had a brain tumor removed recently. I just want to scream sometimes. Why do so many of my loved ones need to suffer from this terrible disease?! Am I next? Is my husband? My beloved mother? I feel like I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop and that the news will never be good. It’s one thing after another.

Any words of advice? I am just so upset and angry right now and I feel like God is nowhere to be found.

What do you do when a person’s time to go is HERE? . . . . and you wonder about other people’s time to GO?

sunnygt is confused : "I have a lot of family members with cancer… my Grandfather is dying, my Uncle is dying, my Aunt has advanced breast cancer,
and my Mother-in-law is undergoing testing for probable lung cancer. My younger Brother had a brain tumor removed recently."

Certainly this is a higher-than-Normal number of Family members afflicted with a disease at the same time.

And, " Why do so many of my Loved Ones need to suffer from this terrible disease?! Am I next? Is my Husband? My beloved Mother?"

And, this is the next thought after a Bunch of other people get Cancer.
What “dirty deed” did they all commit to earn their present Death Sentence? . . . Or, did God make a mistake?

And, " I feel like I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop, and that the news will never be good. It’s one thing after another."

At one level . . . we all die … and, we all die of something.
I see this Cancer-flood as an opportunity of being Glad that God has chosen to NOT give you (or Hubby, or Mommy) Cancer.
God teaches us (in many different ways) that Life is precious. Once we realize THAT fact , our Hearts can open WIDE, and pour out tons of Love.
Most of the time it is by feeling Lucky that we are NOT in immediate danger of dying.

But, in this case, you are looking to the OTHER extreme: “I’m in danger of dying.”
This is a less-Healthy way to view your situation.

When you talk about God being nowhere to be found . . . Where are you looking for God?
God shines through in your Love of your Husband … and Love of your Mother.
What can you do to protect the rest of your Loved Ones? . . . Well, Prayer is one way that many people do what they can to have God save them from getting a disease.

But, even more importantly, God has given you the opportunity to assist your dying relatives to feel the Love of God, passed on to them by you.
These people ARE dying. … They need your Love and attention, to prepare them to meet their Maker.
And, if they are NOT close to God, maybe you can help them decide to BELIEVE in God (as an experiment, if necessary).

Much of the time, people are NOT open to needing God. And, most of the time those people Truly do NOT need God as a BIG part of their Life…
But, as the moment of Death creeps closer-and-closer, that need can come to the forefront of one’s mind.
So, you have the ability to smooth the way for your Grandfather, and your Uncle, and your Aunt (and, yes, even your Mother-in-law).

It may help them get close to God, and look to their coming Death as an inspiration to Let Go of worrying about things of this World,
and focus (instead) on readying themselves spiritually to face Death as just a Transition to the Next Life.

A side-benefit of helping a dying person to prepare for her Death, is becoming LESS fearful of your own Death (and the Death of your Loved Ones).
Those same words of Love and Support that you give to them, can also help heal your Heart from the helplessness you feel about others getting Cancer.

God sends us sickness to purify us and to prepare us for union with Him. He is good, loving and wise and would do nothing harmful to us. What you see as evil (sickness and death) is actually your family’s means of sanctification and entrance into life eternal – two very good things. God bless you.

I watched a documentary about near death experiences of people. All of the people that had experienced near death experiences talked about how their spiritual selves would be floating outside their bodies, watching as things happened around them or how their would be a light they would be going towards. But more importantly, afterwards they had lost all fear of death because they had felt a supreme feeling of love, and like they were almost home. Now, they just want to go back and anxiously wait for the day they die. They say that during their experience they learned that most important thing in life is love, and they want people to know that death is nothing to be afraid of. A few of them even saw Jesus and Mary. So don’t be sad, or frustrated. Instead focus on love, and pray that they make it into heaven. This life is nothing but a small period of time before we go back to our real home.

I felt the same way, too many friends and family suddenly being diagnosed and dying from cancer. No one I know has survived the toxic chemo and they die suffering. There is ONE person I have ever known that has survived cancer, went through treatment at the same time her husband did. She survived, her husband died. She has helped care for her youngest daughter when the daughter got cancer, now her youngest son was diagnosed with a brain tumor and given 2 years tops to live. My friend has her home up for sale, because she has moved in to care for her still single, childless son. She is in inspiration. When the dreaded cancer hits, we need to be blind to the terror that it is and care for and love the person afflicted.
