What Verizon phone do you have and like? What do you like about it?

My current phone can get Internet but is not a smart phone. My data plan is $10; I’m not interested in paying more than that.

I’d even consider going back to a basic phone. (Call, text, no Internet)

Many of the phones I’ve read about get mediocre reviews.
 
I have a Droid Bionic and I love it. My favorite part about it is the big screen. My 53 yr old eyes have trouble reading text messages on a small screen. I don’t get on the internet very much, but I do like being able to check my e-mail.
 
My personal phone is a HTC rezound. It’s ok, the first one I had didn’t last 3 months, so I really don’t trust it. If it weren’t for the trust issue, I’d really like it. It’s a smart phone.

I also have a Verizon Samsung phone for work that is just a pretty simple flip phone. You could test and send email with it, and phone calls. I don’t think it gets on the net for browsing at all. It’s cheap and easy to use, nothing to shout about, but so far reliable.

I have a Droid (the first one) and my mother has a Razr. I like my Droid because it has a keyboard and is basically invinccible.

All the cell phone providers are phasing out their basic phones. They are moving us toward smart phones whether we like it or not.

Hubby just got a Samsung Note II and he loves it. It’s keeping him amused and he is using it as work tool. I have a very basic phone and I don’t need anything else. He is finally happy with the sound of this phone, for calls I mean - I have to say, I’ve not been impressed with any phone I’ve owned recently.

I have heard that the phones you can buy at Target, Wal-Mart, etc. have gotten much better and are way cheaper than having a contract plan.

I don’t see how people afford all these phones and internet plans - they are very expensive. We have 4 phones on our plan at the moment and our bill is ridiculous.

If I got a smart phone, my data plan would be $40/ month. Not interested!

I have a Droid Razr for work. I had wanted the Droid Razr Maxx, and thought I was getting the Samsung Galaxy S3, but ended up with the Razr. Don’t ask.

The Droid Razr has been working fine, though its battery life is too short - I had wanted the Droid Maxx for the longer battery life. I’m most likely going to upgrade my personal phone from an iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 5, now that Google Maps is available as an app on the iPhone.

I’m also curious - what do people think of the Share Everything plan?
 
I have an iPhone and love it. I don’t have a home phone and don’t miss it. I plan to upgrade to the new iPhone when I can get a discount in a few months. It’s nice to check my email on my phone.
 
I’m like you, don’t need a smart phone and the 360 $/yr extra they cost. If you want a basic (i.e. non-smart phone), Verizon refers to them as ‘feature’ phones and don’t have them on display. You’ll have to ask one of the sales people to get them out of the back.

I like flip phones to prevent ‘butt’ dialing that can happen since when closed and in your pocket the buttons are covered. Sure, someone can hack it and remotely monitor the camera and microphone but it’s a bit of work. Most of the folks doing that target the Apple and Droid phones since they are far more common.

Anyway, I have the LG Revere. It has a camera and takes still photos but doesn’t take video. It also doesn’t accept memory cards, which is about the only thing I miss from my last phone. It was nice to be able to store the photos to the flash card and use that to transfer photos into my computer instead of having to connect the camera to it.

Overall, a very capable and rugged phone. Plenty of tones to select from to differentiate between receiving, texts, calls, and alarms. It can access the web, which I don’t do from my phone.

Two of my kids have the iPhone 4 and like them, other kid has a Droid which he likes. But they download apps and also use the iPhone as their music library/iPod. Not something I’m interested in having in my phone, I’m perfectly happy having separate MP3 devices.

It’s more expensive for me than sticking with the ‘grandfathered’ plans for my various phones. That’s because two of my kids have unlimited data and get to keep it, even when changing phones. And they download a lot of stuff. A lot of stuff. Going to a shared plan which would cover that amount of data for all the phones works out to be more expensive.

Also, be careful when you upgrade to 4G. I’ve read that if you don’t adjust your phone to download the smaller video/data files it will automatically download the higher resolution ones which are considerably larger, and your first bill may be quite a shock when you think you haven’t changed your downloading habits but your bill shows you having sucked down a lot more data.
