Verizon Wireless is OK about selling child porn

Well, this is disgusting if you ask me. One of the best ways to close this market down is to refuse purchasing it. Obviously money speaks louder than morality these days.

Patrick Trueman, President and CEO of Morality in Media, thinks Verizon’s defense is lacking.
“Verizon needs to show some corporate responsibility. America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography and that harm falls particularly hard on children,” he told FOX411.
We are? A pandemic?

The comment in the article is correct …Verizon is acting like a business, in that all it cares about is making more money for its greedy stock holders regardless of the real cost. They are making money out of objectifying, exploiting and degrading children. Even if its “themed” that way and does not involve actual children, the theme is planting the idea that this is ok. This is an all time low!

I’m glad I’m not a Verizon customer. I don’t plan to be either.

As sick as it is, your thread title is misleading as what they are offering is “themed” that way. These are the same sort of tricks the media likes to play when coming up with titles for articles and whatnot.

Sad as it is, this does not surprise me, the thing that does surprise me is there is actually a group called ‘Morality if media’!! GEEZ, now that group is fighting a loosing battle if there ever was one!!

Look at the ones at the top of the child porn industry, they are CEOs of very large companies, high level politicians, top people in the entertainment and music industry, etc. Should it actually be a surprise to see a major cell provider coming out in defense of this? of course, these people are going to protect each other and what they like.

Sure, there are people who will switch carriers, but I truly wonder how many will actually do this? Will it be enough to hurt their business at all…more than likely not, even if it was broadcasted on the nightly news in almost every city in the US, I would bet, most people would continue to use Verizon…what does this say about people though?

To me, it shows not that many people really care about things like this, they may ‘talk the talk’ and speak out against it, but when it comes down to them making changes in their lives, or actually having to DO SOMETHING…thats where it ends, they simply arent willing to do anything extra, I guess it shows people are extremely shallow and have no morals at all. As long as its not disrupting their own cul-de-sac worlds, then they really dont care!

Personally, it disgusts me, like all child porn, but not enough people are willing to do anything in order to stop it…if enough people were though, it could be stopped very quickly, lets say 20,000 angry people show up at Verizons headquarters with pitchforks, shotguns and torches, demanding them to cease and desist…Gee, I wonder how long it would take for Verizon to change its tune?! lol During the times of the nations founding, people were willing to band together for a cause, but today…not so much.

Yep. I am thankful, though, for Catholicvote.org. They really try to band people together for good causes. 🙂 This topic was actually posted on their facebook page and seems to have garnered a lot of responses and shares.

In the article - a “pop culture expert” opines ““It would be pretty impossible for Verizon to satisfy every different view of morality while actually serving consumer needs.””

That sums up the viewpoint pretty well… this is a consumer “NEED”, and there are some views of morality in which this is OK, so what’s the problem?

Meanwhile back in the real world, I just got back from staying at a Marriott hotel for business and found it nice that the in-room entertainment doesn’t automatically offer “adults only” video selections. I recall that Marriott (which was founded by a Mormon) has decided as a corporation that they aren’t going to offer that. Regardless of the “NEEDS” of their clientele of business travelers, they decided it doesn’t fit with their view of morality. And good for them!
