However, people are signing up for the service. The text messages are not going out to everyone.
Do you have a cell phone? Cause Verizon was the last hold out on this particular group.

Really? Hmm, I did not know that. I use Cingular, or AT&T now. Does Verizon allow pro-life texts?
No idea if anyone has tried.
Both Cingular and At&T allow customers to sign up for various groups/programs that send out blanket texts to subscribers. Like those commercials on TV that offer Joke Texts. It’s the same concept.

Verizon Wireless to allow abortion texts

Just saw this. I’m a bit speechless to say the least! This is one reason I’ll never switch to Verizon.
it’s awful…keep praying for poor lttle babies that are at risk of being murdered through abortion…and pray for everyone who supports this happening…
all those who support this one day will have to stand before god and explain themselves…doctors who have performed these abortions will probably have at their judgement as their accusers all the babies they murdered…
it’s kind of a scary thought…we should not only pray for the babies but pray for everyone who is pro - abortion …that god may bring a change in them…so that they may repent what they have done…and ask forgiveness from god

The information seems a little bogus.

Anyone can do text messaging with the cell-phone service they sign up for. The companies don’t specify which customers will be allowed and who will not be allowed to do text messaging and what kind of messaging.

Am I missing something here?

agreed…in America we must follow the 1st amendment, and this seems to be using the 1st amendment correctly (however unfortunate it is).

If Verizon didn’t allow NRL to do the same thing NARAL is doing, then we’d have a case on our hands. But until I hear something aobut that, I’ll keep my brand new Verizon phone with an unlimited free texting plan (since I’m hoh). 😉

I suspect Verizon has some kind of service where NARL could send a text message out to one number and and it be forwarded to everyone who had signed up. If they offer the service I cant see how they can exclude anyone from it.

This is simply a messenger service and no different than being on someone’s e-mail newsletter list. I may not approve of many of the newsletters out there, but I certainly don’t blame my mail server for allowing it to pass through its system.

It seems there is no more dangerous place to live thanin a mother’s womb. How ironic. It makes me cry.

I posted a thread on this topic yesterday Verizon Flip Flops on NARAL Text Messaging along with a poll. Perhaps these two threads should be combined.
