It has been very confusing to say the least and as the old saying goes," To many cooks spoil the broth." To many tales loose their flavor. God Bless, Memaw
I don’t think Patrick is/was trying to confuse anyone 🙂 but rather he is answering the original question of "Veronica 's Veil—True Account ? "

He was just laying out the historical back ground to answer that question and demonstrate how the devotion came about and developed 👍

And I thank him for taking the time to answer the OP 's question. 🙂

Maybe he didn’t intend to but to many tales to sift thru. I just take the Church’s word for it being authentic.God Bless, Memaw

My, My, when will it ever end.
Such extremes to disprove a devotion that the Church has not only sanctioned but grants a Plenary Indulgence for doing it properly. God Bless, Memaw
Depends on how fast I am. Which would probably take us a month if my motivation keeps up. 😃

As for the claim that I’m disproving something, nah. 😛 I’ve only just laid out the facts here - much of what we know about Veronica (the woman), the Veronica (the image), and the development of the story. Much of the stuff I’ve posted here isn’t really secret, you know - a little search will show them up.

Why would you think I’m trying to disprove the devotion anyways?

If you’re confused, I’m much more so. I agree - there is simply a lot of information about the topic, a lot of stories, names and places to wade through. Kind of like a bland history book, only more bewildering. (And if you’re the type who thinks history books are confusing to begin with, well…I can sympathize. :o)

Hate to say this, but I will spoil the broth a little further. I have a very infamous track record in keeping my motivation up, but as long as I have it I’m gonna tidy the mess I’ve started. To be honest I’m aiming not so much for us the posters who are here but for interested lurkers and folks in the future who might be interested in the topic. My approach? Lay out the facts, let the reader decide or build upon it. (I’ll admit I’m cheating slightly this whole time - so far I’ve never directly answered the title question. ;))

(P.S. Very sorry if I sound kinda snappy or disjointed - I’m getting kinda drowsy as I’m typing this.

P.P.S. Mods willing that is. If not - hey, at least you won’t be confused anymore and I’ll be free of an obligation. (For me, this feels very much like an obligation - but still something done voluntarily.) That way everybody’s happy. 😃
