Hey guys. I was wondering what your favorite Bible verses on persecution are? Any instance or situation in the Bible is fine. I’m compiling a list for personal use.

Here’s mine 😃

"But in everything commending ourselves
as servants of God, in much endurance,
in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses,

"in beatings, in imprisonments, in
tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness,
in hunger,

"in purity, in knowledge, in patience,
in kindness, in the Holy Spirit,
in genuine love,

"in the word of truth, in the power
of God; by the weapons of righteousness
for the right hand and the left,

"by glory and dishonor, by evil report
and good report; regarded as
deceivers and yet true;

"as unknown yet well-known, as dying
yet behold, we live; as punished
yet not put to death,

“as sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as
poor yet making many rich, as having
nothing yet possessing all things.”
(2 Corinthains 6:4-10)

From the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 13:

9 But look to yourselves. For they shall deliver you up to councils, and in the synagogues you shall be beaten, and you shall stand before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony unto them.

10 And unto all nations the gospel must first be preached.

11 And when they shall lead you and deliver you up, be not thoughtful beforehand what you shall speak; but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye. For it is not you that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

12 And the brother shall betray his brother unto death, and the father his son; and children shall rise up against the parents, and shall work their death.

13 And you shall be hated by all men for my name’s sake. But he that shall endure unto the end, he shall be saved.

From the Gospel of John, Chapter 15:

18 If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you.

19 If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20 Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.

21 But all these things they will do to you for my name’s sake: because they know not him who sent me.

22 If I had not come, and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.

23 He that hateth me, hateth my Father also.

24 If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.

25 But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: They hated me without cause.

Taken From the Douay-Rheims Bible.

I’m sure there’s more, but these are the two which spring to mind straight away from my school and college days.

Matthew 5:10 "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
5:11 "Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
5:12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.

2 Cor 2:4-8

8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.

Blessings,

Brian

From Hebrews 11

35 “…and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.”
