I was thinking it might be a good idea to make a list of the best Catholic Sites out there if doing such a thing is allowed here. (I’m sure the moderators will tell me if that is not allowed. I’m not sure.) But there’s a lot of good stuff out there that I’m sure I’m not aware of. I know there are already lists out there but it might be fun and worthwhile to make up our own list of popular and excellent well-known and perhaps lesser known sites . If you have some good sites you want to mention. It might be good to keep it to under ten per person. I’m not sure if we’re allowed to link to these sites. CAF is obviously one of the best of Catholics sites out there on planet earth but, obviously, there are many more. Even one we might not be aware of would be good, if you feel it is really an excellent Catholic site that deserves mention.

I cannot recommend this site enough: catholicculture.org/culture/reviews/

This is where you will find if another site you’ve become enamored with is actually faithful to the Magisterium and if the site is teaching or promoting error or disobedience or flat-out schismatic ideas. Too often we have well-intended members on CAF posting links to sites they have found with some element of truth or something to back their opinion, idea, or agenda, only to have it turn out to be promoting disobedience to the Magisterium or making disparaging comments about the Mass in OF, Vatican ll, or our last few Popes. This site is the “watchdog” for such things and it also will let you know if a site has gone too far in the other direction and is supporting ordination of women, abortion-rights, etc.
 
Thanks for posting, JPJD. So far, I looked at your first one, thecatholicgentleman.net, it looks quite good.

On an unrelated note, one potential problem I see with this thread is the possibility of inadvertenly or not, some site getting mentioned that is not loyal to the magesterium, and I’m sure most of us all know that would be quite problematic here at CAF. So, we’ll see if the moderators are ok with this thread. They can’t be expected to investiage every site mentioned, I know.

So, Caveat Emptor!

And everyone please post only sites that you are 99% certain to be fully orthodox and inline with orthodox Catholic teaching and loyal to the magesterium. Thanks.

Can’t believe no one’s mentioned New Advent! 😃 [Sorry, I just saw someone else did mention it.]

I LOVE that website because it links to so many excellent news articles and Catholic blogs. When I want to know what’s going on in the Catholic world, New Advent is the first place I look. He’s also put tons of Catholic writings – Church Fathers, the Summa Theologica, the Bible with side-by-side versions of the Hebrew/Greek, Latin Vulgate, and English.

I just love it!!

We had an adult class once on good and bad Catholic websites.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the class because I wanted to know which ones to avoid that pose as Catholic websites, but say off the wall statements about the Catholic church. Of course, I also wanted to know of the good ones.

CAF is my favorite one though!
