Hi everyone šŸ™‚

I’m confused about something, and I really hope someone could give me some advice.

I just went to Confession this morning. It was great šŸ‘ the priest gave me some great advice and I feel soo much better now and closer to God. (if you’ve seen my threads from before, I was struggling with a couple things)

well there’s one thing that still bothers me. It’s sort of complex…

I recently wrote a poem that’s sort of a prayer to Mary, in thanksgiving for my Total Consecration (which was in June). At one point when I was writing it, I just felt really thankful that she loves us so much as her children, and I told her that her love for me is like a priceless treasure. Of course this is even more true for Jesus’ love for me. I was just trying to find the right words.

Well last night, I was reading over the poem, and - I can’t decide if this is the devil or my conscience…
I started getting these thoughts, maybe I shouldn’t have said that, because even though we SHOULD be very devoted to Mary, even though we should love her a lot, - it is really God’s love that’s our ā€œpriceless treasureā€ first. Then I started getting these fears, what if when I wrote that, I forgot about Him, and so came to Mary ā€œfor her own sakeā€ and committed idolatry? ah it’s like the old Protestant in me again… 😦 this hurts me though cause I don’t recall ever forgetting about His love while writing this poem, and I do value so highly my ā€˜relationship’ with Mary as well. She’s very special to me.

Well today at Confession, I really coudln’t make up my mind if it’s a sin or not, and if these thoughts came from my conscience, or the devil. I had A LOT of things to say to the priest, so I made up my mind to just include this in a list of other (in that case) sins by saying: ā€œI put other things instead of Godā€

but now, afterwards, it’s STILL bothering me. Did I commit a sin? Should I have told the priest in detail about it? if it was a sin, is it alright how I confessed it?

the thing is, I feel so much guilt, but I don’t understand how it could be a sin, cause it’s TRUE that we should really value Mary’s love for us…we should just remember that it’s all for His sake first… to go through Mary to Jesus, not the other way around. And I honestly can’t remember anymore what my intentions were at that moment, whether I forgot about God or not. I feel like my memory is all messed up from thinking about this too much.

I’m sad I’m getting these thoughts, because I was so happy to go to Confession, I want to receive the Eucharist tomorrow soo much ,and also it’s the Assumption today!

😦

anyone have any thoughts?

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee! Thou art my priceless treasure, my deepest love, my closest companion, holiest purity and highest of all beauties. Queen ascended, Queen triumphant, Queen of all grace! Mother of All Virtues, Mother of Humanity, Mother of Everlasting Life! We praise and love you with all our hearts, without holding anything back, you and your Son through you, He that reigneth forever, highest of all in our hearts and in all things glorified through you.

Of course we love Jesus most, Monica :). He knows that. Of course He is the highest treasure and love, the closest companion, etc. Not all the language we use is technical; it expresses the depth of our love. The Bible, also, doesn’t always use technical language. When it says there was no king like Solomon ever in Israel, it isn’t including the Lord its King in Egypt and all the way to the Promised Land, its mightiest Monarch ever. And when Scripture says everyone has sinned, it isn’t including the New Adam or the New Eve. There are many cases like this in the Bible.

Besides, Mary is our priceless treasure. Some of the language I used just now when praising Mary isn’t technically correct, for I assumed in my soul while using it that there are between one and three exceptions ;). But your language is both spiritually and technically exactly correct.

There is no price for Mary. Nothing could buy her, nothing could be worth her. The whole universe is crumbs beside the Queen of Heaven. There is no price anyone would or could possibly make that would be equal in value to the Virgin Mary. The only one ever paid for her was the blood of Jesus. It is already paid, and with it already spent, there is nothing now that ever could match her worth.

I hope God saves you swiftly from all worry, that you might praise Him constantly and in perfect joy.

I agree with you! please say a prayer for me brother, I don’t know why this is bothering me so much, when it didn’t bother me before. 😦 I agree with you that Mary is our priceless treasure. For sure! And that doesn’t mean Jesus isn’t… it makes Him all the more so. She is filled with love for us and all love comes from God.

I’ll keep on praying about this…

God bless šŸ™‚

I admit this MIGHT be another attack from the enemy, because something always seems to happen whenever I go to Confession and come closer to God.

I just read this in St Louis de Montfort’s ā€œSecret of the Rosaryā€, and it shows just how much the devils fear and hate Our Lady:

WHEN SAINT DOMINIC was preaching the Rosary near Carcassone [1] an Albigensian was brought to him who was possessed by the devil. Saint Dominic exorcised him in the presence of a great crowd of people; it appears that over twelve thousand had come to hear him preach. The devils who were in possession of this wretched man were forced to answer Saint Dominic’s questions in spite of themselves. They said that:
  1. There were fifteen thousand of them in the body of this poor man, because he had attacked the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary;
  2. They went on to testify that by preaching the Rosary he put fear and horror into the very depths of Hell and that he was the man they hated most throughout the whole world, because of the souls which he snatched from them through devotion to the Holy Rosary;
  3. They then revealed several other things.
Saint Dominic put his Rosary around the Albigensian’s neck and asked the devils to tell him who, of all the Saints in Heaven, was the one they feared the most, and who should therefore be the most loved and revered by men. At this they let out such unearthly screams that most of the people fell to the ground, faint from fear. Then, using all their cunning, so as not to answer, the devils wept and wailed in such a pitiful way that many of the people wept also, out of purely natural pity. The devils spoke through the mouth of the Albigensian, pleading in a heartrending voice:

ā€œDominic, Dominic, have mercy on us----we promise you that we will never hurt you. You have always had compassion for sinners and those in distress; have pity on us, for we are in grievous straits. We are suffering so very much already, so why do you delight in heightening our pains? Can’t you be satisfied with our suffering without adding to it? Have pity on us! Have pity on us!ā€

Saint Dominic was not one whit moved by the pathos of these wretched spirits and told them that he would not let them alone until they had answered his question. Then they said they would whisper the answer in such a way that only Saint Dominic would be able to hear. The latter firmly insisted upon their answering clearly and out loud. Then the devils kept quiet and refused to say another word, completely disregarding Saint Dominic’s orders----so he knelt down and prayed thus to Our Lady: ā€œOh, all powerful and wonderful Virgin Mary, I implore you by the power of the Most Holy Rosary, order these enemies of the human race to answer me.ā€

No sooner had he made this prayer than a glowing flame leaped out of the ears, nostrils and mouth of the Albigensian. Everyone shook with fear, but the fire did not hurt anyone. Then the devils cried:

ā€œDominic, we beseech you, by the passion of Jesus Christ and by the merits of His Holy Mother and of all the Saints, let us leave the body of this man without speaking further----for the Angels will answer your question whenever you wish. After all, are we not liars? So why should you want to believe us? Please don’t torture us any more; have pity on us.ā€

ā€œWoe unto you wretched spirits, who do not deserve to be heard,ā€ Saint Dominic said, and kneeling down he prayed to Our Lady:

ā€œOh most worthy Mother of Wisdom, I am praying for the people assembled here who have already learned how to say the Angelic Salutation properly. Please, I beg of you, force your enemies to proclaim the whole truth and nothing but the truth about this, here and now, before the multitude.ā€

Saint Dominic had hardly finished this prayer when he saw the Blessed Virgin near at hand, surrounded by a multitude of Angels. She struck the possessed man with a golden rod that she held and said: ā€œAnswer my servant Dominic at once.ā€ (Remember, the people neither saw nor heard Our Lady, but only Saint Dominic.) Then the devils started screaming:

"Oh you who are our enemy, our downfall and our destruction, why have you come from Heaven just to torture us so grievously? O Advocate of sinners, you who snatch them from the very jaws of Hell, you who are the very sure path to Heaven, must we, in spite of ourselves, tell the whole truth and confess before everyone who it is who is the cause of our shame and our ruin? Oh woe unto us, princes of darkness:

"Then listen well, you Christians: the Mother of Jesus Christ is all-powerful and she can save her servants from falling into Hell. She is the Sun which destroys the darkness of our wiles and subtlety. It is she who uncovers our hidden plots, breaks our snares and makes our temptations useless and ineffectual.

"We have to say, however reluctantly, that not a single soul who has really persevered in her service has ever been damned with us; one single sigh that she offers to the Blessed Trinity is worth far more than all the prayers, desires and aspirations of all the Saints.

"We fear her more than all the other Saints in Heaven together and we have no success with her faithful servants. Many Christians who call upon her when they are at the hour of death and who really ought to be damned according to our ordinary standards are saved by her intercession.

"Oh if only that Mary (it is thus in their fury that they called her) had not pitted her strength against ours and had not upset our plans, we should have conquered the Church and should have destroyed it long before this; and we would have seen to it that all the Orders in the Church fell into error and disorder.

ā€œNow that we are forced to speak we must also tell you this: nobody who perseveres in saying the Rosary will be damned, because she obtains for her servants the grace of true contrition for their sins and by means of this they obtain God’s forgiveness and mercy.ā€

Then Saint Dominic had them all say the Rosary very slowly and with great devotion, and a wonderful thing happened: at each Hail Mary that he and the people said together a large group of devils issued forth from the wretched man’s body under the guise of red-hot coals.

When the devils had all been expelled and the heretic was at last entirely free of them, Our Lady (who was still invisible) gave her blessing to the assembled company, and they were filled with joy because of this.

A large number of heretics were converted because of this miracle and joined the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.

Wow . . . now I want to go off and pray my Rosary immediately!

I’ll pray the Hail Mary for you, just as you ask.

Monica, this is just my opinion based on your story. But when you wrote your poem, it doesn’t sound like you had ANY thoughts or feelings about ā€œless-thanā€ or ā€œmore-thanā€ in your heart. In other words, there was no competition in your heart between Jesus and Mary. Only LATER did you begin to doubt and wonder if competition was in the mix.

To me, God’s truth is that there is no competition. God’s love is infinite. There is no ā€œmore infinityā€ for some, and ā€œless infinityā€ for others. Infinity is ALL, always, all the time. No less-than or more-than.

However, in the human realm, we have competition. Cain slew Abel because HE felt less-than – not because God actually loved him less. Satan tempted Eve with the FALSEHOOD that she and Adam could be ā€œmoreā€ than what they were. (which was already precious enough!)

So to me, a primary feature of sin is our belief in the LIE of an up-down, superior-inferior, more-than/less-than creation, or reality. Violence stems from people harming or putting others down, in order to be ā€œupā€. It’s all based on falsehood.

Competition is only healthy for humans when we have agreed first, in an environment of equal respect, to compete in a certain ā€œarenaā€ – such as sports, a game, or in business. We develop our muscles and keep ourselves healthy by facing resistance — the stone is heavy, it resists my lifting it, so by lifting it I strengthen my muscle. We need resistance in our life, it’s part of our design to exercise ourselves against it.

But at ANY time other than in sports or business where there’s a clear arena, if a feeling of competition, or a sense of less-than/more-than comes up – it’s a lie, which can be traced back to its roots in Satan.

You are the only one besides God that knows your heart. God knows it best, but you know it second. If you are honest about the LACK of competitive feelings or urges when you wrote your poem about Mary, I would say your concern about it later is definitely Satan trying to drive a wedge in, make you doubt, and make you swallow the belief that love might be competitive, sometime, somewhere… It’s untrue.

Push back the lie. There is no competition in genuine heartfelt love. This understanding has helped me a great deal to recognize one of Satan’s main strategies, and to point myself back to God, my Light and my Truth, when doubt or feelings of more-than/less-than creep in.

God bless you on your journey.

Every single human being is a priceless treasure. Saying that doesn’t mean we worship them or think they’re more of a treasure than God.
Of course we give greater veneration to Mary than to any other saint.
I can’t see that you sinned at all. When we venerate the saints we give glory to God.

Hello everyone:)

Monica

I write (not poems) and make public speeches on spirituality or everyday living. Usally what I do before I put pen to paper or begin my talk I ask God to guide me to use me as his instrument. I learned this form reading a story I read about mother Teresa, has’nt failed me yet.

Have no fear God’s love is allways with us.šŸ‘

thanks for your advice everyone šŸ™‚

well today I really couldn’t decide if I should receive the Eucharist or not 😦 because these thoughts were still troubling me. At the beginning of Mass, I had this thought as I was praying, that the reason why Mary’s love is indeed my priceless treasure is because she leads me closer to Jesus, who is my *greatest *treasure. That made sense and it gave me more peace. But I still couldn’t decide if my worries were coming from my conscience, or from the devil. I ended up receiving the Eucharist…I really prayed that I wouldn’t offend God by this. Well when I took Communion, I just felt very close to Him, and I felt a lot of peace. I felt so loved by Him.

Right now, I still can’t decide…I’m so lost 😦 I even started thinking, what if everything I believe about Our Lady is wrong. Oki this might be the devil who is just attacking me more and more by the day. I feel like he’s trying to confuse me, to make me think that there’s a competition between Jesus and Mary, that if I love her at all, then I’m committing idolatry…but I know that if I won’t love Mary, that will offend God for sure. So at this moment, it’s like no matter what I do, I feel I’m offending God and sinning!!😦
I believe everything the Church teaches about Mary… I agree with De Montfort’s teachings about her… I’ve made my Total Consecration… maybe this is what the devil is against? but what if these thoughts are also coming from my conscience, what if there’s nothing wrong with my devotion to Mary, but the words of the poem were wrong.

A priest told me once that I’m scrupulous, and I know I am…but I don’t know how to escape. I’ve always been like this.

I think what will help me is talking to a priest about it… I’ll see if I can go to Confession on Tuesday and hopefully that will give me peace.

Oh, I wish you could set aside this fear now. Because it’s certain that calling Mary your priceless treasure was a beautiful gift to God through her. You absolutely did nothing wrong. The enemy is tormenting you.

It’s interesting that you mention your Consecration to Mary. Yesterday, while I was being consecrated, I had harassment from the enemy like I haven’t known since . . . well, for a long time. While I was walking to Mass that day with the intention of being consecrated, these mental attacks just kept leaping into me, telling me this was wrong, that I was in the wrong, that I was splitting myself off from Jesus. While I was praying my Rosary that morning, the moment those thoughts hit me, they actually came in a physical form of attack as well. Simultaneous to the second the first of these awful doubts hit me, the Rosary bead between my fingers split in two. The experience was just the beginning and attacks on my intended devotion continued throughout the day until I’d finished the last part of it, signing my name on the paper.

It’s certain that what you’re experiencing is an enemy attack, at least to me.

One of the things I thought to myself yesterday as I experienced these attacks was, ā€œIt’s interesting that people like Monica, Epistemes, The Catholic and others that entered this devotion are the people I know in my life who are enduring some of the greatest trials. I wonder what trials I shall experience?ā€ St. Louis de Montfort said in his book that people who faithfully practice this devotion will endure some of the greatest trials- and some of the greatest graces, to endure them.

May God bless you with peace and confidence. Do whatever you can to put aside these fears. You certainly did no evil in praising our Blessed Mother in this way. Don’t let evil come between you and Jesus in the Sacrament or between you and His Mother.

Don’t trust your feelings. These feelings of worry are not to be trusted. They masquerade as conscience in order to mess with your soul. This is not the time to rely on your own feelings, for they are betraying you. Trust God, trust your priest, and trust your spiritual director above yourself.

Do you have a spiritual director? If not, I REALLY recommend you get one.

well I just had a really long talk with Jesus šŸ™‚

here is what I got from it:

I’m still unsure if I had sinned or not (I will talk to a priest about this), but -

I realized what has been bothering me so much. Every time I even thought of the possibility that I had sinned, I started doubting the Church’s teaching on Mary and devotion to her altogether. I think that a part of this was due to pride. At one point during the prayer, God gave me the humility to admit that IF I had indeed sinned, if I messed up with my devotion to Mary, that does not make it wrong in itself: it only makes ME wrong, not what De Montfort said or anything else. In other words, if I sinned, that was my own fault, and the Church teaching is not to blame. This makes me feel a lot better!

I read in True Devotion that real devotion to Mary always leads us to Jesus. If we find it leads us away from Him, then it’s not true devotion, but deception. I’ve ALWAYS found that devotion to Mary has lead me closer to Jesus. But if this time around it did not, I’m willing to admit that and confess it.

That being said,* maybe these worries are all from the enemy*. He has attacked me in similar ways before. (only in those cases, I instantly knew it was an attack)

So I’ll just talk to a priest and he’ll absolve me, just in case šŸ™‚

and then I’ll hopefully get on with my life…

this whole day I’ve (sadly) been sort of pushing God away…I’ve been keeping both Him and Mary at a distance, cause I was afraid that in order to love Him fully, i’d have to reject His Mother. But now, I see that is not the case. Now, I choose to love Jesus first, and to love Mary also, and to go to Jesus through Mary…and to be devoted to her.

I can’t wait till Tuesday though…I’d feel so much better once I’ve been to confession. I’ll see what the priest says šŸ™‚ I’d be VERY glad if he says it wasn’t a sin. If it was though, I’d admit I messed up this time around.

It’s funny how I have no problem whatsoever with prayers like Hail Holy Queen, which call Mary ā€œour life, our sweetness, and our hope.ā€ I have no problem with St Louis de Montfort’s prayers, with Total Consecration, or with any other Marian devotion. I’m comfortable with the language these Saints use as well in describing her. I also have no problem with the rest of my poem!! nor do I think it’s wrong to think of Mary as our priceless treasure BECAUSE she leads us to Jesus. I’m just afraid that when I wrote that part, I went to Mary for her own sake, and not for Him 😦 that’s what bothers me**…I can’t remember… **

I’m really horrible at judging the state of my soul. I feel like I don’t know anything.

sorry just wanted to say all this 😊

here’s what I really believe with all my heart:
I believe that it’s perfectly alright to love Mary to the fullest as long as we love Jesus even more, and as long as we go through her to Him. We shouldn’t be afraid of loving Mary ā€œtoo muchā€. We can’t love her enough. Also, it’s perfectly alright to have confidence in our Mother and to venerate her, to delight in her glory and beauty, etc. And there’s nothing wrong with giving ourselves to her so that we may belong more fully to Jesus. šŸ™‚

Lief Erikson, thanks brother šŸ™‚ I don’t yet have a spiritual director, but I definitely want to find one. I’ll talk to my priest about what happened to me, and hopefully then I’ll have more peace. I’ve found that sometimes talking to a priest really helps…especially if you’re really open with him. And I’ll just go by what he says. One thing I know, is that devotion to Mary is not wrong.

I agree about not trusting in feelings.! I’m learning this the hard way.

I wanted to share with you what happened on the day of my Consecration…I can really relate to what you wrote. During the 33 days, I was really looking forward to the Consecration. Every time I picked up the book and read it, I seemed to learn something new from it, and it gave me so much joy. I felt so close to our Mother.

However, when the day came, I was suddenly doubting everything. I had a very strong feeling that not only is what I’m doing very wrong, but that it greatly offends God and that in consecrating myself to Mary, I’d be worshipping her. At that point, I couldn’t even imagine saying the words of the prayer and meaning them. I felt like I simply can’t and shouldn’t give my soul, body, possessions, merits, etc, to Our Lady…that these things are my own and that God gave them to me to keep. I suddenly felt very afraid that this consecration will literally last forever: that it will be true in Heaven as well as on earth, that even 100,000 years from now I’d still be Mary’s slave. I thought, I need to be God’s servant, not a slave! It seemed like I forgot everything I read in True Devotion. Before, when I thought of this consecration being eternal, I felt joy, and now I just felt great fear.

I almost decided to put it off, and to think more about this, cause it’s such a big choice I’m making. I knew that once I say the prayer, that’s it, I’m consecrated, and nothing will ever change that unless I myself undo the consecration.

But somewhere deep inside, I was wondering if this is just an attack of the devil. That made a lot of sense. So I decided, I’ll just give it one last chance, and pray the Rosary. So I went to my room, and prayed the Rosary as well as I could. I felt a lot better afterwards, but some of the doubt remained.

After receiving the Eucharist at the 5 pm Mass that Saturday, I knelt before the Tabernacle and asked Jesus if this Consecration would please Him. I was almost begging Him to show me if it wouldn’t, cause the devil was trying to convince me this would be a very serious sin. And suddenly, I just felt a lot of peace about the whole thing. I couldn’t even remember why I had a problem with it before. So I took out the prayer and read it slowly… and as I was praying it, that’s when I realized all that I had experienced that day was just an attack. Because it felt like possibly the most powerful I’ve ever prayed, and I saw why the enemy would hate it. I forever renounced the devil, then I gave myself to Mary so that she would give me totally to Jesus. I knew at that moment that she had accepted the prayer, and that she will indeed give me to Him.

I also thought it’s very awesome how it says, ā€œ**In the presence of all the heavenly court **I choose thee this day for my Mother and Mistress. I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present and future; leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God in time and in eternityā€ - because I really did feel like it WAS in the presence of all the heavenly court .I was praying before the Tabernacle, where Jesus is physically present…and He’s also physically present in Heaven where all the Angels and Saints are. I was told there are Angels all around the Tabernacle and in the Church, and my Guardian Angel was with me too. It was such a powerful moment! It’s like they were all witnesses to my Consecration, like they were all listening to the prayer.

Afterwards, I felt such incredible joy, and no doubt at all. For the next three days, I had this very distinct impression that I’m not my own. That I’m really like a slave to Jesus and Mary. And before I expected that to be painful to realize, because of my pride, but it wasn’t at all. It was great. Eventually this impression faded away, cause I guess God wants me to now to live out the Consecration by choice alone.

So I really agree with you that it was the devil that tried to stop you from your Consecration as well. Well this means that it’s really pleasing to God šŸ™‚ so that’s wonderful that you did it too! But i have to say, it sounds like you had to endure much more than i did. I’d be terrified if I saw my Rosary break in two!!

I had similar attacks happen to me when I became Catholic. On the night of my entering the Church, I couldn’t sleep for hours cause I felt completely sure that i’m going to hell for this. I felt panic. At one point, I felt almost like i’m about to be possessed. That was probably the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced…I could feel so much evil around me. But when I put on my Rosary, I felt much better šŸ™‚ and eventually it went away altogether.

God is much more powerful than the enemy šŸ™‚ we don’t have anything to fear if He is protecting us.

God bless you!!

at least one good thing has come from this trial though šŸ™‚ I see now more clearly how weak I am and how much I need God. I’m so easily lead astray, and I sin easily too. Thanks to God for His great Mercy 😃

I can’t imagine what it must have been like for the Saints…they went through much greater trials than I’ve had to endure. Yet they kept their faith. wow. I’m glad God never gives us more than we can handle (by His strength).

All I know is that I need Mary.

Sometimes, when I’ve sinned, it’s so comforting to know that I have this loving mother to come to, to lay my head in her lap, to cry to, and to tell my sorrows and fears to – and she lets me. She corrects me so lightly and tenderly that I cannot help but want to be an obedient child, though I fail so miserably – and yet she doesn’t become impatient, or cross, or bitter; rather, she sees that I am a child no matter my age and supposed ā€œmaturity;ā€ she sees that I still require milk rather than solid food; she sees that I’m still learning how to walk though my natural legs often lead me astray; she sees that I’m still learning to speak even though my natural mouth is filled with bitterness, anger, jealousy, lies and boastings.

She is such a loving mother, and she cares so much for all of us, and she wants all of us to trust her so that she can help us. And more than us, can you imagine the love she has for her son, who is her Lord and our Lord? Is there any natural bond stronger than mother-to-child? And yet, are we not called to love God with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength? I can’t even imagine the love which Mary has for her son, Jesus, who is the Son of God. I can’t even imagine such a great love. And what mother doesn’t wish to find a suitable spouse for her son? And yet Mary, this great mother of mercy, she sees suitable spouses in each and every soul that passes through this life, and she sends invitations, ā€œCome, Soul, and receive the loving hand of my Son in indissoluble union.ā€ And she sends, and she sends, and she sends these invitations because she so desperately wants all Souls to find completeness in her son, and she wants her son to receive what is rightfully His.

All I know is that I need Mary.

Thank-you very much for sharing your story. I really appreciated reading it.

It’s so weird for me to be on Catholic Answers reading so many struggles and torments people are enduring, while I’m just sitting here experiencing so many joys and consolations and no sufferings at all, aside from yesterday. It feels very strange.

Amen. May we all constantly rely on her. I sometimes wonder if as we get closer and closer to God we’ll feel younger and younger, less and less mature, or if we’ll notice that we’re getting more mature? I mean, Thomas Aquinas can hardly have helped knowing that he was blessed with far more wisdom than the average chap. Yet the saints are also the most humble. It’s hard for me to reconcile the blessings and the sacred ignorance. I guess the humility all comes from just surrendering whatever graces and skills and talents one has to God and acknowledging Him in all of them.

at least one good thing has come from this trial though šŸ™‚ I see now more clearly how weak I am and how much I need God.

Here’s a quote from St. Teresa of Avila’s ā€œInterior Castle,ā€ from Chapter 2 of the Third Mansion:
For often it is God’s will that His elect should be conscious of their misery and so He withdraws His help from them a little – and no more than that is needed to make us recognize our limitations very quickly. They then realize that this is a way of testing them, for they gain a clear perception of their shortcomings, and sometimes they derive more pain from finding that, in spite of themselves, they are still grieving about earthly things, and not very important things either, than from the matter which is troubling them. This, I think, is a great mercy on the part of God, and even though they are at fault they gain a great deal in humility.

My dear friend Monica

I make visits to the Blessed Sacrament near every day for a while and the one thing I think that makes God happiest is when we praise and bless His Mother. Stop worrying, all the praise you give to Mary God considers as given to Himself - and it’s extremely pleasing to Him. I’d venture to say God is more pleased when you praise His Mother than Him. I’m not saying we should ignore God or condoning idolatry, just trying to make a point as said.

May your Blessed Mother guide you in all things:thumbsup:šŸ™‚

John
