My teenage son explained this to me about 6 months ago…

“Rick Roll” is internet sub-culture event where people put up or send links to supposed ‘videos’ (like our friend rusty20 did) saying that it was some amazing, cute, funny, or otherwise amusing video that the intended viewer must watch. When the ‘victim’ clicks onto the link, the video for Rick Astley’s 80’s hit, “Never Gonna Give You Up.” In essence, the person who thought they were going to see that amazing, cute, funny, or otherwise amusing video had actually been “Rick-Rolled.” Innocent enough.

Ah ha thanks for explaining. It’s like this YouTube stuff has been here forever to young people, but actually it didn’t exist before 2006. It’s still new to me. I recently discovered the whole "LonelyGirl15" phenomenon. I’m a little slow.

Of course there’s also the "Zombie Turtle" boy. (Views: 5,269,316) Article in the Washington Post on that.

OK OK I do watch some YouTube. :eek:
