Do you even know what a hadith is?

Because there are NOT ahadith in that post.

There are narrations, which may or may not be authentic, taken completely out of their social and cultural context! Without even an actual reference to back them up. It’s completely outrageous! And to compare that to hadith? To scholarship? It’s garbage!

What about killing a woman who has been raped because she brought shame to her family? Is that less disgusting?

If either one of those things had anything at all to do with Islam your post might be relevant. But they DON’T, and it’s NOT.

Trust me, LOTS of people are telling them they are in error. Both things are cultural.

Female circumcision is an African thing. Pretty common in Egypt and Somalia for instance. The government of Egypt has just finally gotten around to making it illegal. But you NEVER see that sort of thing in South Asian countries, and it’s exceptionally rare in the Gulf as well. It is a cultural African practice that scholars of Islam do not promote in the least, and many scorn it totally because of the damage it causes to the woman.

The honor killings are another cultural practice, common especially among Muslims in the Sham (like Jordan, for instance) although you hear about it also among African Muslims and maybe even the Gulf. Let me stress again that it’s cultural and has absolutely no basis in Islam, it is even condemned in Islam, and violates a variety of laws. I’ve gone over it before, actually, the laws that an honor killing breaks. In short, it’s not allowed, not by Shari’ah. It is evil and I hope that the Muslims wizen up very soon to the error of these practices.

Yes I know what hadith is. I was simply asking if there was actual text to back it up. You claim there is not. The post indicates that many books are in arabic and are not translated to English so it is hard for English speaking people to look up these references (I appreciate that difficulty as a Copt since most of our texts are also in arabic and not translated to English).

I am willing to forego judgment until someone can provide some actual text to back up the statements in brother bpbasilphx’s post.

Honour killing in the qur’an : Sura 18 : 74-80

In this sura an innocent boy is slaughtered as he WILL, ie in the future, dishonour his “believing” parents.

Whatever taqiya she tries on you, these ARE legitimate islamic sites. Bookmark them.

Under Shariah Law there is no punishment, ie the right to retaliation, when a parent kills their offspring or offspring’s offspring - (The Reliance of the Traveller, page 584)

Circumcision for men and women under Shariah Law is obligatory (under Hanbalis not obligatory but good, under Hanafis a courtesy to the husband). (The Reliance of the Traveller, page 59)

It IS cultural - Islamic culture.

yes sis , it’s a good point .

I want to tell Christians , if Muhammed (p) is a fake one , you don’t have to use nasty words / spread hatred against him. God is enough to burn him & all his followers in fire forever .

But what if he is not a fake one ? Why not stay in a safer path & at least don’t submit nasty posts ? Remember you will be accountable for all your deeds on the Judgment day.

Also , by posting hateful posts is not giving your religion a good name . If Muslims are bad , you don’t have to be worst .

Mugen, I’m in the military, some of the men I know who went to Iraq were told this exact thing by Iraqi men! Pederasty is also very common in the Arab/Moslem world.

This is a hadith narrated by Ahmad, among others. And there is a hadith classified as “hassan gharib” about Muhammad
There is one hadith “hassan” that says

الطبراني في معجمه الكبير، والضياء المقدسي في الأحاديث المختارة وغيرهما عن ابن عباس أنه قال: رأيتُ رسول الله (ص) فرَّج فخذي الحسين وقَبَّلَ زُبَيْبته (2).

قال الهيثمي في مجمع الزوائد: رواه الطبراني، وإسناده حسن (3).

وأخرج البيهقي في سننه الكبرى بسنده عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى قال: كنا عند النبي (ص)، فجاء الحسن، فأقبل يتمرَّغ عليه، فرفع عن قميصه، وقبَّل زُبَيْبته
 
bpbasilphx, ignatius, and inJesus - you dazzled me w/ your materials. for a guy who’s only learning now about islam and mohammed, you backed up your posts very well. i read the posts of sis amy and muslim woman who both voiced out their objections to your posts, but i believe the topic/debate is important for knowing the truth. we’re in a democratic country where we value freedom of speech, let’s take advantage of it. many have been bashing Catholicism but always, the faith comes out very strong for the truth is in there. 👍

any topic can be discussed without showing hatred & disrespect . What some Christians are doing in this forum is really sad .

Have you ever heard that in any Muslim majority countries , there are funny cartoons on any Biblical Prophet or Muslims are making TV programmes on Jesus or Mother Mary (pbut) & preaching hatred against them ? Is it too much to expect that Chrisitians will show a minimum respect for our beloved one ?

anything written in Arabic is not holy to Muslims. Quran is the Final holy book of God Almighty . God says in Quran that He sent Muhammed (p) as a mercy to mankind . So , Muslims don’t need to watch any TV show or read other writing in Arabic to know about Muhammed (p). Anything that contradicts with Quran is not true to us .

“And say [O Muhammad]: 'The truth [has now come] from your Lord, then let him or her who wills believe in it, and let him or her who wills reject it.” (Al-Quran 18:29)

So , I can only say to those Christians who are spreading hatred in this forum is :** To you be your Way, and to me mine.** ( holy Quran ; 109:6)
