I agree, but then watching sport games rarely involve demonic characters.I think watching professional sports is odd and often obsessional. But rarely would it qualify as a venial or mortal sin.

Tell that to Daniel.I agree, but then watching sport games rarely involve demonic characters.
This actually can be an occasion of sin (more often than one might think), if you give it a higher priority than God. Many of us probably know of families that have taken their love of sports to an unhealthy level. Sometimes it means that families skip Mass to watch games or to prepare for/recover from game parties. Sometimes it means they neglect each other (including strengthening each other in the Faith) because they have so many different sports activities (or other activities) they are involved in that they are never really together. Sometimes, they simply act inappropriately- getting too aggressive (and sinning against charity) is just one example here- and they refuse to control themselves, or to get rid of that part of their lives when they find they can’t control themselves around it.I think watching professional sports is odd and often obsessional. I agree entirely, but I would not expect to see “Watching the NFL” on an examination of conscience aid, any more than “playing D&D”. It would fall under neglecting family/work/religious duties, poor use of time (a sin we don’t hear much about these days), placing undue importance on leisure activities, or whatever. This actually can be an occasion of sin (more often than one might think), if you give it a higher priority than God.
