People sometimes forget just how liberal many Catholic parishes have become. Any doubts, see the stats that say the higher pct of Catholics, the better chance of pro-abortion, pro-homosexual legislation, at least in the USA. Of course those people want no part of us.
I suppose you’re right Seamus. It’s obvious that we’re resented here on CAF., but I hadn’t yet personally faced such hostility in the “real world”…funny looks, yes, but a scene in front of non-Catholics…NO. Still, I’ll never get used to a Catholic who is pro-abortion or pro-homosexual “marriage”.
I was proud of my daughter, though. When I spoke to her about my classmates who were Pro-abortion, she told me that she’d heard that
“same thing often. People say that some children would have been better off…had they not been born”. Her answer is, “That’s not our decision to make, it’s God’s”. Then she said something that surprised me. She told me to study the stats & I did. They may surprise you, as they did me:
Who’s having abortions (religion)?
Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.;
Catholic women account for31.3%, Jewish women account for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as “Born-again/Evangelical”.
Who’s having abortions (income)?
Women with family incomes less than $15,000 obtain 28.7% of all abortions; Women with family incomes between $15,000 and $29,999 obtain 19.5%;
Women with family incomes between $30,000 and $59,999 obtain 38.0%; Women with family incomes over $60,000 obtain 13.8%.
Thank God that the Traditional Catholic Churches are growing by leaps & bounds. Pre-Vatican II (& that’s a term used OFTEN by priests who pray the Novus Ordo, exclusively) the church was our moral compass and there was
no moral issue in the world that was not firmly addressed from the pulpit. Our churches were built to inspire awe and devotion. Every parish had weekly Novenas and Benediction with great attendance. The period was not perfect, as people are not perfect…but we were taught right from wrong & WHY right was right & wrong was wrong. We have much to do penance for.
Liberalism killing French Catholic Church:
Traditionalists taking over
The Catholic Church in France, among the places where the fashionable “liberalism” of the 1960s and ‘70s has most taken hold, is dying out, with Mass attendance, priestly vocations and seminarians at record lows. **At the same time, the growth of the doctrinally and liturgically “traditional” movements, who tend to be strongly pro-life and pro-family, is continuing, reports Hilary White, **
