These are the vesting prayers for the deacon from the 1988 UGCC Liturgikon:
The priest who intends to celebrate the Divine Liturgy should, above all, be reconciled with everyone; hold nothing against anyone; and, in as much as he can, harbor no evil in his heart. He is to abstain from the evening before and remain watchful until the time of the Liturgy. He enters the church at the appointed time and in front of the holy doors makes three bows to the east together with the deacon.
The deacon then says: Master, give the blessing.
Priest: Blessed be our God, always, now and for ever and ever.
Deacon: Amen.
The deacon begins to recite: Glory be to You, our God, glory be to You.
Heavenly King, Advocate, Spirit of Truth, Who are everywhere present and fill all things, Treasury of Blessings, Bestower of Life, come and dwell within us; cleanse us of all that defiles us, and, O Good One, save our souls.
Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy and Immortal, have mercy on us. Thrice.
Glory…now…
Trinity most holy, have mercy on us. Cleanse us of our sins, O Lord; pardon our transgressions, O Master; look upon our weak¬nesses and heal them, O Holy One; for the sake of Your name.
Lord, have mercy. Thrice. Glory…now…:
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Priest: For the kingdom…
They then say:
Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us. We sinners bring this appeal to You, O Master, for we have no defense. Have mercy on us.
Glory…
Lord, have mercy on us, for we have put our trust in You. Be not exceedingly angry with us and do not remember our transgressions, but look upon us now with compassion. Redeem us from our enemies, for You are our God, and we are Your people. We are all the work of Your hands, and we call upon Your name.
Now… :
Open the doors of mercy to us, a blessed Mother of God, that we who hope in you may not perish but be delivered by you from danger, for you are the salvation of the Christian people.
They then go to the icon of Christ, and kiss it, saying:
We bow before Your most pure image, a kind Lord, and beg pardon for our sins, O Christ our God. Of Your own will You consented to ascend the cross in the flesh to free Your handiwork from enslavement to the enemy. In thanksgiving we cry aloud to You: By coming to save the world, our Savior, You filled all things with joy.
And they then kiss the icon of the Mother of God, saying:
Behold, you are a fountain of mercy. Deem us worthy of com¬passion, O Mother of God. Turn your eyes upon us sinful people. Make manifest your power as you have always done. For with hope in you we cry out: “Hail!” - as once did Gabriel, prince of the invisible hosts.
The priest bows his head and says this prayer:
Lord, stretch forth Your hand from Your holy dwelling place on high. Strengthen me for Your ministry which I am about to perform so that I may stand without blame before Your awesome altar and cele- brate this unbloody sacrifice. For Yours is the power for ever and ever. Amen.
They then make one bow to each choir and enter the sanctuary saying:
I will come into Your house; I will bow in worship towards Your holy temple, in fear of You. Conduct me, O Lord, in Your justice; because of my enemies, direct my way in Your sight. For there is no truth in their mouth; their heart is vain. Their throat is an open sepulcher; they deal deceitfully with their tongues; judge them O God, that they may fall from their devices; according to the multitude of their offences, cast them out, for they have bitterly provoked You, O Lord. But let those be glad who hope in You; they shall rejoice forever, and You shall dwell in them. And all those who love Your name shall glory in You. For You will bless the just, O Lord. You have crowned us with a shield of Your good will.
Having entered the sanctuary, they make three bows before the holy table and kiss the book of the holy Gospels, the holy table, and the cross on the altar. They then each take into their hands their sticharion and make three bows to the east, each saying in a low voice: God, be merciful to me, a sinner.
The deacon, holding in his right hand the sticharion and orarion, approaches the priest. Bowing his head to him, he says:
Master, bless the sticharion and orarion.
The priest says: Blessed be our God, always, now and for ever and ever. Amen.
The deacon then goes to one side of the sanctuary to vest himself with the sticharion, praying thus:
My soul shall be joyful in the Lord; for He has clothed me with the garment of salvation; and the robe of gladness He has wrapped around me. He has placed on me, as a bridegroom, a crown; He has adorned me, as a bride, with jewels.
Having kissed the orarion, he lays it over his left shoulder. Then he puts the cuffs on his hands. On the right he says:
Your right hand, O Lord, is glorified in strength; Your right hand, O Lord, has shattered the enemy. And in the multitude of Your glory You have crushed Your adversaries.
On the left, he says:
Your hands have made me and formed me; give me under¬standing and I will learn Your commandments.
Then he goes to the prothesis and prepares the sacred vessels. He puts the holy diskos on the left and the poterion, that is the holy chalice, on the right, and the other things with them.
