If turbans or kippots were the norm, then I suspect Christ wore one.

Vestments Thames the focus off the person of the pastor/priest and what what type of clothes he is wearing to what he is doing. Evangelicals such as Rick Warren and some others wearing their Hawaiian Shirts or their pinstripe suits, people tend to focus on how they are dressed.

Well, it is expected that Arabs and Muslims would depict Jesus as wearing their own attire. Christian artists frequently project the clothing and styles of their own time and place on to religious art. I think a more interesting question is whether ancient depictions of Christ ever showed that he wore a turban in an effort to be historically accurate. All the icons I can think of, showed long hair and no headgear except for the crown of thorns, which has a biblical basis. So did Jesus actually wear a turban? What is the scholarly support for this assertion?

No. In fact if you Google Images search “Jesus in a Turban” the results are… interesting. Notably missing from the search results are images of… Jesus… in a… turban…
I’ve mostly seen paintings of Jesus where he looked like a pasty white ghost (occasionally looking a little bugged out) or like an Italian guy. But He was neither of these things. Artistically, European art has tended toward that loose-fitting head covering if they do put it in- I can’t remember the name of it, but there’s a standard look in the art whether it’s depicting Moses or Jesus, even though they’re separated by thousands of years. What isn’t standard in European art (with rare exceptions very early on) is the turban- on any holy person, actually- even though that was a pretty standard look for rabbis. To the artists at a later date, however, it was the standard look of evil Muslims and we can’t have a holy man looking like an evil person.

By the way, I want to go on record saying that in principle, God is and has always been indifferent toward turbans.
