I bought my daughters panties there for Christmas. They were like 5 for $20 plus one free. What a deal. And there weren’t really sexy looking. They also have great bras for bigger built women and the fitters know what they are doing. Their PJs are pretty and well made.
Really? I haven’t been to VS in years, but when I was there last all they had was size up to 40 DD I think. That’s not that big (to me).

Honestly, I think VS’s stuff is just ok, but for good lingerie especially for a wedding, or for a proper undergarment for a wedding dress, I’d much rather go to a good department store (Nordstrom, Bloomies,Saks,) where they will measure you and fit you properly. The stuff at VS to me is kinda cheapy mall fare, not worth what they charge for it.:twocents:

OP my guess is your friend is going there to get lingerie for her wedding night, or undergarments to under her dress, or both. While I’d not care to patronize that store because of their skank fest advertizing, perhaps some people think it’s ā€˜the place’ to go for that kind of thing, or have no other viable shopping options? Which I can’t really see, because where there is VS, there are other mall stores and department stores. My guess is, women want don’t realize what they’re being duped into buying, which is much more than just pair of undies or an IPEX bra.

Once in a great while, you will come across a for real honest to goodness lingerie shop, like back in the day. They’re a joy to shop at and the bras will last until you croak. They also have sizes like 26 AAA and 46 H or bigger.šŸ˜‰

And , I totally agree with this
my husband does too. not shopping as VS doesn’t mean he and i don’t care about this.

as for getting off their mailing list, i’m off it. still i won’t spend my money with a company that sends out softcore. my house doesn’t receive it anymore, but many do. and, as some posters mentioned, walking past the at the mall is an occasion fo sin.

my teen boys have a hard enough time understanding and maintaining chastity. my teen girls have a tough enough time embracing a healthy, modest body image. VS advertising undermines everything we’re trying to impart to them.

VS doesn’t get my money.
šŸ‘ šŸ‘ šŸ‘ šŸ‘ šŸ‘

I bypass the thongs and go to the super-comfortable and modest bras and pretty panties. There is nothing wrong with buying a little silk nightie for my special nights with DH, and certainly with buying a comfortable bra. Their catalogs are gross, so I don’t get them.

I wish I looked as good as the models do. Personally, I think lots of us here wish we COULD shop at VS.
To the poster who wants a Queen VS…me too!!

Kathy
God Bless You … and amen! Your post is dripping with honesty and incredible insight. Those women who are the most vocal against VS almost certainly are not comfortable with their own body image. That is truly unfortunate because God made all women beautiful, each in their own unique ways.

VS is for all women who wish to feel better about themselves in the more intimate aspect of their marriage no matter how they look on the outside. It isn’t really about being shallow. Feeling better on the outside helps bring out the beauty on the inside! VS could help by marketing in a more private manner and using more realistic models.

I blame us men for not telling you ladies enough just how beautiful you really are, regardless of a few additional pounds or a few grey hairs. God knows that us guys have our little ā€œage issuesā€ and quirks as well!

😃

To those women worried about their teen boys:

I wouldn’t worry too much about VS. Your main concern needs to be honest and open discussion about internet pornography. Internet pornography contains some of the most disgusting and degrading material seen in the history of mankind. Your primary concern needs to be education. These boys need to know that their preferences developing and that internet porn can really damage their still developing sexuality and manhood.

The worst thing you can do is to freak out if you find a VS catalog under your son’ bed. Leave it there! By taking it away or confronting him, you will drive the issue underground where it will grow like a hungry wild dog chained up in the basement. The best way to create an addict is through shame.

The same thing happens when a teen comes home with beer on his breath. Parents that freak out over the scent of beer are creating a future binge drinker when their kid goes away to college. Moderation is called for in both areas. It goes without saying that if they are driving and have beer on their breath, zero tolerance is the rule.

You can address it by letting him know that you are aware of his development and that he is having new desires are normal and healthy. Your message to him should be that if he is going to lead a life that is pleasing to God, he will need to learn to control himself. These desires are placed their by God so you can have a family someday.

VS is a sign that your son is healthy and normal. Internet porn is a sign of potential trouble ahead because of it’s often disgusting, degrading and violent content. Draw a stern line on internet porn. No exceptions. Monitor all use of the internet… and stick to it!

I shopped at VS for my honeymoon lingerie…and I still occasionally get a little something there to surprise DH with. I think the ads can get a little racy, but it IS lingerie… 🤷

The ads are not the problem, it’s that they are aired on tv, like at 8pm at night, when that is typically a family viewing hour for many. I have shopped there, and still do sometimes, but I can find the same bra for much less at a department store! lol ($35 for a bra?) I am beyond indulging in that type of thing…I’d rather take the money I’d spend on a bra and underwear, and get a nice massage or buy a nice dress!šŸ˜›

Those women who are the most vocal against VS almost certainly are not comfortable with their own body image.
That is a negative stereotype. While I have learnt from this thread that one can shop there, I have also learnt that its marketing is not modest.

As Catholic parents to teenage children, there is the added responsibility of teaching MODESTY. While it may not be pornography, some of its ads are very immodest.

Also I don’t think parents here are ā€œfreaking outā€ about finding VS in their son’s room but of a prudential concern for developing their sense of modesty.

Immodesty can lead to pornography.

Allow me to rephrase then:
Generally, those women who are the most vocal against VS almost certainly are not comfortable with their own body image.
😃

I fully agree that their marketing could use a little toning down. I am not a big fan of those lifesize posters of ā€œT&Aā€ all over the mall. As beautiful as the female body can be, recommended viewing should be confined to the privacy of one’s own home within marriage.

Lol, I was going to stay out of this, but I saw your post and had to say something.
Let me rephrase that šŸ˜‰
Generally, those women who are the most vocal against VS almost certainly are not comfortable with the female body image VS presents. 😃

Christmas in my house includes at least one gift of underwear for my wife. Every year I make my one foray to VS where I am about as graceful as a hog on ice.

To tell you the truth, I prefer it to the hip hop stores. And I think that racy underwear (which is for the most part covered up) is far preferable to pants falling off a person’s posterior.

My 20 year old daughter objected to accompanying me to the store two years ago. It seems, due to the surroundings, that I broke out into what she had been listening to on the radio, the ā€˜thong’ song. Now I go by myself.

I like VS. It’s not racey at all inside.
Last time I went to the mall, the window dispalys were not even suggestive. Just pink wall papered decorative windows.

I agree with jrabs, I don’t find it to be racey inside. I will say though, it’s losing the classy image it once had. It used to be a unique shop, with beautiful and classy lingerie but over the Christmas break, I stopped in there and while I was browsing, I noticed a table at the front with thongs strewn all over the place, cheaply made displays, and teenagers (like 14, 15, 16) rifling through the lingerie…it was a little weird. I don’t want to buy my lingerie from the same shop a 14 yr old buys her thongs. There was something tacky about it, and I live in a nice area, so it’s not the store or the mall. It’s the times, sadly. I think that VS is now catering to a younger (much!) crowd, and they have a whole section of ā€˜college type’ looking underwear, robes, etc…cute, I guess…but, again, about 10 yrs ago, VS was so classy. It isn’t like that (to me) anymore…just seems sloppy, with too many teens walking through…and they aren’t with their moms in many cases. I’m 40 and I don’t want to shop for sexy undergarments at the same place my daughter shops…she is 12, but soon she will be a teen. lol Why are teens wearing sexy undergarments anyways? Makes ya wonder.

That’s my two cents on VS…their stores need work, I think.

And when my dd hits 14,15, 16…she isn’t going to be shopping for thongs at VS. It really used to be a store for adult women, but it looks like they want to change their marketing efforts, and I think that is why, like many retailers, they are not seeing their return on investment.

tlm, even with modifications, this statement is disordered:
Those women who are the most vocal against VS almost certainly are not comfortable with their own body image.
you’re mistaking a sense of modesty with psychological discomfiture. even in your modified reiteration, your assertion is tilting badly.

my own discomfort with my body image included giving birth while teen sons witnessed the event. my own discomforts also include any one of a small crowd of children who might sigh and say, ā€œhere they go againā€ when their dad and i are kissing in the kitchen or snuggling up on the couch.

and i’m not an exception. tlm, though, for the sake of your psychological conclusions, you might wish that i am.

moral of the story:
don’t mistake a person’s sharp sense of modesty with some psychological imbalance. psycho-labeling moral sensibilities is misguided.

ps. my kids’ dad has a very appreciative perception of the female body, too. and he has a healthy view of his own sexuality. that’s why he would counsel his sons ***against ***keeping VS magazines under their mattress. he would counsel them against anything else that onjectifies women and sets their ā€œappreciationsā€ on edge.

I have gone to this store a couple of times… I like that their bras are comfy but really… I have a favorite brand of bras that I can just buy at Fred Myer for cheaper 🤷

HOWEVER, Victoria Secret has the most **WONDERFUL **smelling body lotions and perfumes!!

Yes, their ads and store is racy… but it is not a sex store. I dunno if I would let impressionable children in there as there is somoe scanty clothing and undergarments… but hey, a woman should be able to be comfortable when wearing a bra, and Victorias Secret bras do just that!

Yeah I wonder about that too… just who is gonna be seeing them in their sexy undergarments… hmmm?

I agree that it used to be a store for adult women… but it should still be kept that way. No young girl needs to buy from there. (I also felt weird that there were 14 year olds in there shopping along side me!!!)

I’ll admit, I shop at VS because they have good stuff but I do have to disagree with TLM here.

I think it’s not their own bodies women feel uncomfortable with, but the fact that the female body is exploited for marketing purposes. Especially as these girls seem to be getting younger and younger. Seriously guys, you want to fantasize about someone younger than your teen daughter? As for the boys, this is where their natural desires become turned to distorted pleasure. Sure, it may be biological. Death is also natural and biological, but we do what we can to prevent that, right? God didn’t make us for death, and he didn’t make us for objects either. That’s what the women on these boards are talking about. I agree, I wouldn’t want my husband or sons falling into that either. Nor would I want my own daughters to be objectified just because some guy needed to fulfill a ā€œnatural desireā€.

Yeah, it’s kinda creepy, actually. I have a 12 yr old…now, she’s tall, but I’m a pretty good judge of age…and these girls were very young…not college age, and frankly some looked barely 13/14. I don’t see the need to buy from a lingerie store, the undergarments of a teen. That’s just me. It has cluttered the store too, and makes it look cheap with those large tables of cheap thong underwear set in the front…it’s a bit yucky to me. :o I like classy lingerie, and they used to be predominatly that.

I agree with the poster about their perfumes, oh and their makeup…wow, I buy eye shadows from them quite a bit…really pretty shadows and lipsticks…and yes, their perfumes are quite lovely. šŸ™‚

I’m too fat for Victoria’s Secret lingerie–I WISH they would come up with ā€œQueen Victoria’s Secret.ā€ Sigh…

And I love several of their fragrances–even a fat lady can fit into a fragrance.
:rotfl: :rotfl: Bo & Cat: Loved your senses of humor!!!

I’m addicted to finding the occasional lovely, lacy, intimate something as a surprise. It makes any woman feel special, appealing, feminine and desireable. If anyone thinks THAT’s bad for a husband or long-term marriage, you’ll have to explain it to me!!
