I think what you are doing is fine. Also check out some higher priced department stores in their lingere departments. Many places have nice things. I bought a special ensemble at the same store that sold me my wedding dress. I don’t buy from VS, but I would not let all the politics of their advertising bother you for this one purchase. You have more to plan for now with a wedding and all. You will have years to decide where to buy lingere.

Gold Angel Card holder here.
  1. Victoria’s Secret has some of the most comfortable bras on the market. Comfortable bras are more important to me than politics.
  2. If I’m to boycott everyone/everything who supports abortion, should I ask the lady that takes my clothes at the cleaners how she feels about abortion before I give her my clothes to be cleaned?
  3. VS’s TV commercial are a little over the top. :yup:

I am engaged and I am wondering if it would be wrong of me to go into VS and purchase some wedding night/honeymoon lingere. Nothing dominatrex, but something sweet to make things special.
yes it would be wrong, don’t spend your own money, you should wait for your girlfriends to buy you this stuff for your shower, and let them have a little fun with it, just kind of discretely let a couple of them know what you have in mind so they don’t get anything too weird. after the wedding it will be hubby’s job to buy this stuff for you.

Migurl,
I got married just over 6 months ago. I found some really cute stuff at many unlikely places like WalMart, Sears, Kohl’s, and all of it on sale or clearance…wooo hooo even better…great prices! Nothing wrong with lingere, actually I think that very simple and classy is sexy but to each his own I guess…definitely not the pink frilly type, it clashes with my red hair! The biggest thing is how do you and your intended feel about lingere? I think it makes me feel feminine and I like it, hubby does too…but if neither of you really like the stuff…not necessary.

Puzzleannie, I am sorry but I laughed when I read your post. I can think of nothing worse for my husband than leaving him the responcibility of buying my sexy undies for me. He would be mortified. I don’t even ask him to sit in the bra section to wait for me, I shop for that stuff and I send him to the electronics place. I do agree that letting your friends buy stuff at your shower is a good idea, but I think that if you know your body you can buy something that fits well and shows off what you want to show off. Nothing wrong with that.

of course there is always that danger when you rely on hubby to do the gift buying, unless he is extremely well trained he might panic in the lingerie section and end up getting something from Sears tool department. Also do your husbands have no earthly idea what size you wear? Is that endearing or infuriating, to get something sexy 3 sizes too small? DH being the intelligent man he is, got wise and always had his sister, and later our daughter do the gift buying, so I have seldom been disappointed.

LOL, I actually shop at most of these stores.

VS is a wonderful store. Not only is their lingerie pretty and sexy, but their underwear is all guaranteed! (sorry men if this is a bit much!) BUT, I had a bra strap break on a bra that I’d had for 2 years. I went into a VS store in another city, looking for a replacement, and they told me that it had a lifetime guarantee. I had no idea. Their undergarments are of the best quality, their clothes a very nice, and their fragrances are lovely. I buy my mom AND my daughters gifts from there all the time!
So, go ahead migurl, have some fun.
As for trashy stuff that they sell. I have no idea what “trashy stuff” is. Remember, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” If trashy is satin and lace, or cotton, or stretch knit, or comfy clothes, or something that makes me feel good about myself, then I’ll take trashy. If a well made product is “trashy,” I’ll still take trashy.
puzzleannie: I totally agree with you…have friends buy stuff for showers. But give them a list…Get EXACTLY what you want. 🙂

Victoria’s Secret is hard to beat. They have picked their market and they own it. I have been unhappy with quality and comfort issues when I have tried buying lingerie elsewhere. Wherever you do buy your lingerie though, do get properly measured, so that you can buy your proper size. Did you know that the majority of women are actually wearing the wrong sized bra? It’s really a good idea to go somewhere that offers this service.

Victoria’s Secret is everywhere, so they are pretty convenient. If you are looking for something really special though, there is this Italian brand of lingerie called La Perla that makes the most beautiful, intricate, and comfortable lingerie ever. It is hard to find though. You can check them out at www.laperla.com to see if there is a location near you though.

La Perla is definitely very special. I found a store while I was in London a few years ago and bought 4 items, talk about expensive though, but you can’t beat them in comfort! Everything they sell is so beautiful, its hard to resist spending the money, then again I’m addicted to Prada so that tells one where my money priorities are…shopping! 😉

Are you saying that Limited Brands–makers of the young girl’s Limited Too line–supports this stuff? Do they also support pro-abortion causes as well?

If this is true, then nary a dime of my income will go to this establishment.
I stopped shopping at Limited Too when I found the black sparkly push-up bras targetted at 12-year-old girls.

I think that is silly to attribute all these causes to this or any company that way. Unless the products are designed to promote abortion or lesbiens then it is similar to saying a cowboys fan is promoting my giants if he buys a truck from me because I will buy Giants merchandise with that truck money.

Oh heck, they have those at JCPenney now. It’s ridiculous.

I agree with Malia. I’ve worked in retail since I was in highschool. You want to speak to a manager or better yet corperate office when voicing complaints. Complaints to a sales cleark are being misdirected. Sales clerks have no power when it comes to making any changes and really after being on the receiving end of many complaints over the years you learn to smile ,nod and get on with your day. Company policies are made by the company not the sales clerk.
👍

That’s funny because I am definitely not the Prada type, but I can’t resist La Perla either. They must be doing something right.
