This beautiful, inspiring story has been around for many years. It is the opening sequence for the novel, ‘In His Steps’ by Charles Sheldon. I believe it was written in the 1940’s. As Sheldon never had it copyrighted, it has often been updated and adapted for different cultures.
But, as this site often has threads about ‘disruption’ and ‘proper attire for mass’, it is always good to be instructed/reminded. It’s not how we look to each other, but to God. Thank you for sharing this.

There are too many American homeless people on the streets nowadays begging for a bite to eat or a few spare coins. I wonder what it will take to wake up Americans to the disastrous life faced by the American homeless everyday. I would like to see the government shrink the military budget by at least 50% and apply the money saved to solving this terrible problem of homeless and desperate Americans.
This pastor has done a great and admirable service by calling attention to this horrific American problem. The number of homeless and poor seems to be only growing in America today.

there is also a big scam going on among the panhandlers. it has become a business. our local church put up signs asking members not to give to the panhandlers at the church. it is hard to discern who needs help and who doesn’t.

big government is never the answer. trillions of dollars later and poverty hasn’t been solved by big government.

Why can’t Americans solve their problems of hundreds of thousands of American citizens homeless and begging on the streets. There are countries which do not have these problems.

There is a thread on this already, can we please kindly add to that thread. thank you

If they knew that answer then they wouldn’t have a problem, would they?

sometimes you have to realize people don’t want help. a lot of them aren’t really helpless. one can make a bit of money from panhandling.

If they knew that answer then they wouldn’t have a problem,
If Americans can’t solve their homeless problem, why are they going all around the world attempting to solve problems of other countries?

it is hard to discern who needs help and who doesn’t.
If someone asks you for help when they don’t need it, that says something about them. If you turn away when someone asks you for help, that says something about you.

the homeless problem like the poor will be with us always.
There are countries which do not have these problems.
are you claiming other countries have no homeless people? please name the country.

how do you discern what is in front of you? do you just give no matter what? are you helping the poor by giving to a fraud?

if you are truly interested in helping the panhandler you need to get to know them first as individuals. money isn’t what most of them need. money just enables the habit keeping them on the street.

as i said even the local church warns against giving to the panhandlers.

They are solving there problems, its called guns, the same ones they are abolishing here they are sending over there.

Dear mods can you close this thread please on grounds that it is a duplicate.

In my experience people are quite adept at finding reasons not to help. If you’re getting to know them as people and finding what they ‘really need’ then I applaud you. But it has been my observation many will take that reasoning and then do nothing.

I suspect the video is a fake because:

There is an identical protestant one.
We don’t have church elders.
We don’t start with announcements (at least not in the UK).
A new priest simply puts on his vestments processes to the altar, maybe introduces himself and then gets on with the mass.
The man in the video is not wearing a clerical collar.
The video proposes that a new priest has the right and justification to deny people the Holy Eucharist?

I reckon it is someone bearing false witness.

Just my opinion.
