Is there any instruction or liturgical principle forbiding a pastor to play a video either as part of the homily or post communion?

I wish there were because tomorrow my diocese is launching its annual Catholic Sharing Appeal and we have to sit through a video promoting the program. Luckily, ours happens prior to Mass, but, in other parishes, it’s played after the homily or after the post-Communion prayer. I don’t think it’s kosher, but, I have yet to see anything set in stone.

It would be interesting to see something “in stone” … in my parish there have been a few DVD presentations about WYD which personally I could do without, but they were presented at the time where brief announcements are permitted, so I suppose you then get in an argument about announcements delivered by a priest or commentator vs pre-recorded announcements vs audio-visual “announcements” …

I have seen them for Diocese Appeals and Parish Missions both before the mass and during the homily period. I expect this was done with the Bishop’s approval.
