The ā€œbeginningā€ starts at 3:43, unless you speak Swedish, which in case feel free to watch the very beginning. 😃

A little correction to the date. MCCCCL represents 1450 AD which would be mid 15th century, although I believe the Mass hadn’t changed that much since the 12th century.

Oh, my bad. I wasn’t even paying attention to the title of the video. The writing in the Missal just looked like it was from the 1100s, so I went off that. :o

Fantastic!!! Learned a lot. I noticed several differences between now and then. I suppose one could think that was a low Mass but then again there were other things that would lead one to believe that maybe not.

I really liked the genuflecting during the Agnus Dei. And after the last Blessing the people crossed themselves 3 times.

Were these actual customs in Sweden in the 12th century? I found the film amazing in detail.

Thanks šŸ‘

It’s actually 15th century. šŸ‘

I’m really not that sure. Customs varied widely. But this was actually done by a valid priest, and he seems pretty well-educated, so I’m guessing they were actual customs.

I was going to make a ā€œsmart-alekā€ comment about not being aware that there were video cameras back in the 15th century.

Loved the Rood screen and the ā€œsanctus candleā€.

I was able to follow the Mass. As I said before; the attention to detail was super!
