I just saw a video that disturbed me greatly. 😦 It shows a group of young men in their (I think) early 20’s burning some books they deem as “heretical”. I don’t even want to post up the link, though I think it’s easy to find if you really want to see it. The first book they start burning is a copy of the NEW AMERICAN BIBLE These guys are giggling childishly throughout… I feel really sick seeing this. Now, I’m no real big fan of the NAB myself; but I am aware that it’s got an Imprimatur. Is my gut right in that these guys are engaging in grave matter by burning this translation of the Bible? I just have a sick feeling in my stomach that won’t go away… it was the fact that they were all giggling like that… :nope:

It seems to me that if these kind of self-professed Catholics want to promote more traditional and devotional understandings of scripture, they’re only shooting themselves in the foot and making Catholics who are part of the traditional movement look like extremists… or maybe I’m wrong 🤷

What do you guys think?

If something has a Imprimatur or Nihil Obstat, I don’t question its validity. Its all about trusting the Church. I have never found anything in the NAB translation to be heretical??😛 All this kind of stuff does is just divide our brothers and sisters.

Perhaps this is a statement to the American Catholic church. 🤷

I agree.

No slight to level-headed 20-somethings out there, but early 20-somethings frequently do very stupid and childish things without thinking.

I did.

(not buring bibles, though)
