Yes. This is legitimate. If your mind is totally consumed by a problem, often a dream will solve it–simply by juxtaposing ideas together that you conscious mind would never have done. But this isn’t divine intervention, it’s simply your mind at work. Busy little neurons.

This is an uncharitable remark. The OP is not claiming to be able to tell the future. She has had experiences with some prescient dreams and so have her family members. It is not unusual to have a few occurrences of this in one’s life and within one’s family, and in fact many of us have them. We don’t talk about them in part because we don’t want to listen to comments such as the one you just made.

It’s fine if you don’t want to believe in prophetic dreams. Insulting someone else’s reasonable belief that God might be communicating with her occasionally through dreams - something which happens all throughout the Bible, including the New Testament - is not fine. Just stop, be civil, agree to disagree, and maybe consider going to read a different thread since you’ve expressed yourself already here.

Yeah, same here. I don’t want to know really anything about the dreams I just want to understand how they go along with Catholic teaching, what peoples views are, what I should tell the kids if it happens etc. Its kind of freaky to be honest but if its God’s will it is what it is.
 
I do not dream about such things, nor do I try to predict the future… Its always about people, interactions, warnings, premonitions of death (my mother and great grandmother have experienced this many times).

I don’t pray for material things, only for God to use me, and for the faith of others, or for the sick, dead etc.

I have just one thing to say: don’t become superstitious about these dreams. Some may come true, but there is no reason to suppose that everything you or your daughters dream about is prophetic (and I’m not accusing you of doing this, only warning you against doing it in the future). I would suggest saying nothing to your kids for the time being, maybe tell them not to be afraid of the dreams and to remember them. I am almost positive that it is not Satan. Therefore, it must be God. So far it seems like your choice of path is the best in this situation. I personally believe that what you say is true and legitimate, but I cannot say anything for certain. Mention it to a priest. Pray. Ask God.
 
The church would reject all forms of divination including phenomena at apparition sites, so likely dreams are not accepted either.

“All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to ‘unveil’ the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.” - CCC, par. 2116

Keep the special gift of Holy Spirit like you have an extra eye for your own use and protection.
 
I have had a very few dreams over the years (well decades now) that I would think were warnings or ‘informative’. Not one was about the Lotto. I spoke to my parish priest and he even gave me a reasonable explaination of most dreams: playback of the day, fears and wishes… I have tended in the past to ignore most of them.

I pray for the people who appear in my dreams. I have zero regret for spending a little time in prayer for anyone who ‘comes to mind or appears in dreams’. I almost never hear about the the outcome, but once in a while I do.

I know there are pretty good odds of hitting a coincidental person/prayer need for example: Bobs having to look for a new job and struggling, coincidentally he comes to my mind even though I know nothing of his predicament…later I hear that Bob’s been struggling looking for work for a few weeks but found a job! Could be, and most likely purely chance. But did it hurt anyone that I prayed for Bob?

I’m not that good at praying either. We have some true prayer warriors here at CAF! I would just encourage you to confidently pray for the people who appear in your dreams.

It is possible that dreams can be influenced from angels or demons. They have access to our imagination and memory. Well that can be a lot of material to work with dream-wise.

I highly recommend keeping a prayer journal and agree with others here on making an appointment with your priest, especially if your peace is disturbed by them.

I’ve had prophetic dreams my entire life … I’m 57 … but I never know which ones are going to happen … recently I dreamed that my husband died in his sleep … I’m so scared now … I, of course, didn’t tell him … but the fact that I have dreams that actually happen scares me to no end.

Yeah, this is kind of what I was getting at, while recognizing that the OP is not doing this.

It can be hard especially after you have had a whammy of a dream to avoid falling into this trap. You have a prophetic dream that someone dies for example, or you dream you narrowly avoid some accident, and these things soon come to pass in real life. Then you have another dream that you yourself die or are in an accident and you feel scared and need to realize it is likely either just your brain dealing with anxiety or sweeping out random gunk as usual (like those dreams where a hitman is chasing you, or your car flies off the highway and lands on top of a building somewhere) , or at worst it is the Devil messing with you. It can be hard to separate out the two if you don’t pray constantly and have lots of confidence in God. I’m about at the point of thinking, if it causes me anxiety then it’s probably not from God and needs to be dismissed immediately. God does not create anxiety, unless it’s reasonable anxiety for one’s immortal soul and even then He clearly shows the path to dispel the anxiety.

The thing though that separates these dreams/visions etc from the run of the mill is that they aren’t nonsensical and vague, and are extremely detailed and feel real as if you are there.

The weird thing is that in these dreams/visions many times you have a feeling of deja vu (weird for a dream), and then if this event plays out eventually, you have deja vu and remember the dream of it (where you also had deja vu lol).

And the kicker is that if it is about to happen in real life, you begin to realize it is about to happen - that strange feeling almost like dread - but in fact it has rarely been anything dangerous, scary etc! Its usually benign stuff, or even happy interactions with people. And then it unfolds and you know whats about to occur or whats about to be said.

So I’d say for the most part unless its something like a dire warning you don’t really think much about it until its about to happen. You don’t even pay it any heed.
 
Angel instructed me: dont look at devils’ eyes in vision/dream.

When we sin, Jesus got black dots on his white clothes. More sins, more and bigger black dots! We cant lie to Him. We see our sin clearly so we regret for our sin because of devils’ trap… Jesus can disappear our black dots to somewhere and forgives us.

I recommend that you pray for and look for a good spiritual director.
 
I withdraw the word “angel”, since the good deed spirit never said “angel” himself.
 
Thanks for your concerns. I had very high level mentors before and struggled very hard sometimes. Since we already prayed hard in order to have the Holy Spirit’s gift.

Tactics of Satan is to remove your faith and scare you to death or mislead you, but devils are afraid of Jesus and your faith in the Trinity, NOT YOU. Trust in Jesus name is the powerful weapon to response to devils. Do not trust yourself, but endorse Jesus Christ.

[In fact, you are so little to Satan to pay much attention to your pre-recognition dream/vision.]
Just run to Jesus and look for protection of Jesus Christ in case of need.

Humllity can also defeat devils, not pride. We cried when we saw our sins insulting Jesus.

Satan does not sell you Jesus is the Savior, Jesus is God, Holy God’s presence; etc.

He wants to influence the church to close the apparition site and stop faith growth. He wants to ruin reputation of the apparition sites and alike. Satan does big things like that.
