I will be in a small town in Germany and leaving on All Saints Day. Does anyone know if the practice of a vigil mass before a holy day is a universal practice? Or does anyone know how to write or say “Do you have a vigil mass for All Saints Day” I am learning a little German.

Thanks

I’ve only been on military bases in Germany, and they may or may not have a vigil mass, depending on the Catholic chaplain’s schedule. Most people in Germany speak at least some English. It is taught in school. I’d just ask someone.

It is not universal practice to have a vigil mass before all holy days, but before sundays (well, not absolutely universal, but many parishes have a vigil mass). Some parishes will hold an extra-vigil mass, but not all.

Perhaps you could get a parish bulletin of the parish you’re planning to attend.
