Could someone please advise me whether my action was sinful or if I’m just being scrupulous.
I knew the hosepipe had a leak in it so on Sunday I took the pipe out and located the leak. I could have done this any time next week because I’m free but I chose to do it on the Sabbath. The work was unnecessary And could of been left till later in the week but I still chose to do it. Is it a sin?

Another question if you accidentally Take another persons property, say you picked up your book and their pen was in it, do you have to return that pen or whatever it was no matter small and insignificant it is?

I play baseball and occasionally work out on Sunday (altough I’m trying better not to work out or play baseball - if it’s not required). So fixing a leak can’t be that bad. As for giving things back to people - Give the stuff back. If you intentionally keep the thing, then it’s stealing, but by accident it really is an accident, not a sin.

It’s no big deal. It’s mainly big jobs that impede your ability to rest in the Lord that is sinful. You should return items if they’re accidentally taken.😉

Agreed. And, if scruples are a problem, offer the necessary task (even if it could have been done on another day) for the souls in purgatory, personal intentions, intentions of others, etc.

If its a cheap ball point pen and the person lives across town do not be concerned about that. You can always return it even if you don’t have occasion to see them for a while. No need to make a special trip.

Small jobs that don’t take time away from your family seems to be okay. If you worked for hours on a project instead of being with family, that is another story.
