I know Islam teaches the virgin birth of Jesus to Mary. My question is; who does Islam teach is the “father” of Jesus?

Jesus does not have a direct biological father…his mother was a virgin.

I wouldnt dwell on who Jesus’ father was any more than I would dwell on who Adam’s father was…or who Eve’s mother is. All of them have the same thing in common, they were made by a Creator who can make humans out of dirt…children out of only mothers…or children out of only fathers…or children out of sterile mother and father. All he says is “be” and it is.

That may not be what your looking for, inshAllah a more knowledgble Muslim can answer the question

I agree that Jesus did not have a biological father and that nothing is impossible for God, this is just something I was wondering about.

Would it be fair to say that Islam teaches that through the spirit of God Jesus was conceived?

Come on Faith101! What I am looking for is not as important as an honest, direct answer and you have given me that! 😉

I will welcome any and all other honest and direct answers as well!

after you answer the birth question I have another if you dont mind. Im surprised to hear that muslims believe Jesus was born of a virgin.

Why would it be a problem as it seems that Joesph was the earthly dad? and what about later on is it believed Christ was crrucified??

**Quran 19:17

**YUSUFALI: She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent her our angel, and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.
PICKTHAL: And had chosen seclusion from them. Then We sent unto her Our Spirit and it assumed for her the likeness of a perfect man.
SHAKIR: So she took a veil (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her Our spirit, and there appeared to her a well-made man.

Of course they say “Our Spirit” means the angel Gabriel for some reason.

No, Muslims do not believe that Jesus was crucified.

—That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-

Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise;- ---- (Quran 4:157-158)

Mary was married to Joesph so is there a problem with him being a adoptive father to Jesus as Jesus was not Joesphs flesh and blood.

*Who is “we” ? and what about the appearances, conversations and food Jesus shared with the apostles after the crucification or as you state the fake crucification. ?

Also is exoflare correct about Our being the angel Gabriel?? If so why does the angel speak of itself as two. If its the angel and Allah then why is the angel the same as Allah?? If Jesus was made in Our image.*

Kitty Chan,

The whole term “Our Spirit” is referring to the angel Gabriel (according to what I’ve heard from Muslims). It’s not that Gabriel is stating this from his own point of view and mentioning “our spirit”.

fair enough exoflare

mind you the question still stands why say Our why use that terminology? The more I find out the less I know about these things. . . .
