This is so sad…this is my old parish, and the statue of Mary is the one we used to crown in the May procession every year. It had been there since 1944.
My heart goes out to you, dixieagle. This is a terrible thing to do.

We had a similar incident in our parish. One teen aged boy in our parish designed a beautiful St. Michael The Archangel statue for the church. It has stood there in the church vestibule, greeting church goers ever since. He recently passed away in his late 80s, so you can see how long we have cherished our statue. We never caught the perp, but the statue was badly damaged by someone who somehow hid in the church after it had been locked for the evening. We sacrificed to have it repaired (ours is a poor parish), and we turned the unused baptistry chapel into a beautiful chapel for our repaired St. Michael–which is locked after Mass! (Which is a sad reflection on our modern society, too).

I will say a prayer that your Virgin Mary be repaired quickly.

:mad:Well I hope this doesn’t get to be a trend. The same thing happend in San Antonio several years ago down at San Fernando Cathedral. Some guy damaged some of the statutes. The local jewish community offered their help to restore the statues ,which i thought was nice.Wish I could find the article, the San Antonio express News might have it in their archives.
It makes you so mad at these people, just want to kick them. Hope you are able to have the Blessed Mother repaired.

It is actually a sad thing to ever imagined. But I believe strongly that our Mother Mary will surely replace it.

The man who disfigured the statues at the Cathedral in San Antonio was mentally disturbed. There are two more cases of statues of Mary being damaged at another location in San Antonio, but those cases have never been solved.
