But calling Virgin Mary “Mother of GOD” is controversial even between Christians themselves!
Again you are reading into this too much. Pray and contemplate what is the true meaning. 🙂

Plus, not all “Christians” believe that Jesus is True God from True God. Old heretical ideas keep propping up.

That sounds logic to me…
Dear Sam, no one said Mary created the Son. :hmmm:

She gave birth to a child but with two natures. A Divine nature and A Human nature (taken from her). The Divine was always there ( Son of the Father ).

She will not stop being the Mother in other words. She’ll always be Mother of Jesus ( Remember All generations shall called me blessed?) who is God.

🙂 Since my deep days in Islam, I view Virgin Mary as the optimal female GOD ever created.

I personally sees her as “Mother of Nuns” in a spiritual matter, and I’m not planning to change my view of her.:heaven:

Calling JESUS “GOD’s WORD” is fundamental and has solid reference in OT & NT, so both the Jews and Muslims must respect that.

The logic for “Mother of God” doesn’t get any more fundamental and solid than what eddie too, and others, wrote above.

If you want to continue narrowing the distance between Christians and other sects and religions nothing can stop you - except the truth. This line of thinking plays right into the JW hands and their theology as watering down the Gospel to the point of removing the deity of Christ.

Remember, when the JW organization began they used the KJV bible till the 1950’s. Prior to the organization most of the organizers were of protestant origin. What you and others are doing is exactly what the JWs have accomplished in their own organization - removed the deity of Christ.

I pray one day you understand this! :signofcross:
Peace be with you!!!

That part I can’t help you. 😛

The question is where did you get this idea from?

MJ

As Mary kept her virginity and devotion to GOD all her life, so are the Nuns, so Mary is the Mother of Nuns.
You may be having a new definition for Nuns. Because for Catholic Nuns believe that Mary is the Mother of God. 🙂

First of all heresy, like treason, is a made up concept. It only applies in the third person “their heresy”. It is a term thrown around by individuals that get angry when people do not agree with them and they strike out in a very non-Christian way. You must understand that since we do not accept the authority of your church the word heresy is irrelevant. Now back to your comment; no one is dividing Jesus. Jesus is not two individuals but has two natures; fully human and fully divine. I think you will agree that Mary was a created being. Her assent was necessary for she above all others chose to fully submit to the perfect will of God. Now to your point: Jesus is God (we both agree), Mary was his mother (again we agree). Here is where we disagree. A created being (Mary) cannot give birth to the God that created her therefore not the Mother of God per say. I realize the historical reason Mary was given this title but in an effort to solidify doctrine the title serves to divide. The title Mother of God is essential to justify other Marian doctrines.

I do want to stress that discussions like this make it seem like Protestants have something against Mary and that is not true. We honor her as the most perfect example of surrendering to the will of God and her wonderful example of motherhood to Jesus. We love her too but we have a much different understanding of her and her role in God’s perfect plan of salvation.
Heresy has NOTHING to do with “getting angry” and a WHOLE LOT to do with the Truth. Either Jesus is God or he is NOT God. The title Mother of God was given to Mary to support the fact that Jesus was God from the moment of conception. The council that awarded this title was dealing with a very specific heresy…your idea that Mary is given this title to “justify other Marian doctrines” simply reveals your ignorance of history…either that or a willful ignoring of fact.
