Virtual Lenten Retreat on video starting tomorrow night

I think it’s a great idea, especially since most of the retreats at parishes and retreat houses ended up being interrupted or cancelled. I was two days into a Marian retreat at a local parish when the Masses got suspended and unfortunately the priest giving the retreat homilies was not allowed to come back. (He was quite elderly and lives with a religious order so they probably ordered him to stay indoors.) I hope they reschedule that at another better time because I and the other people who attended were really enjoying it.

Video for Night 1 of the retreat is up here. It looks like this is recorded, not a live stream, which is helpful as one can pause, or stop and come back later.
The tomb of St. Katherine Drexel is directly behind the Night 1 presenters.

I found this retreat inspiring and it’s message relevant during these uncertain times. I also appreciate its brevity, especially given the last retreat I viewed lasting over an hour each session. I must admit I had to stop watching the actual video because I kept distracting myself studying the interpreter. I kept trying to match the words spoken with the corresponding sign language. I never appreciated that sign language was so emotive and relies very heavily on facial and body expression. I got a kick out of the sign for piling up debts.

I also turned off the video and just listened to the audio. I often do that though, when the video is just a talking head. I’ve never liked to watch videos of people just talking, and I agree with you the sign language is distracting though it adds some interest. The interpreter is very expressive.

I didn’t see a link for the second night. Am I missing something?

For anyone looking for Night 3 of the Virtual Lenten Retreat, as of now, Night 3 is not yet on the Vimeo (Kearns Media Consulting) site. It will probably be up there by tomorrow. I’m guessing that whoever runs the Kearns site might not work in the evenings.

But if you want to watch Night 3 tonight, it’s already up on Archbishop Perez’ Facebook page.
You do NOT need a Facebook account to watch it - I tested by logging out of my account and seeing if I could access the video.

Use this link for Night 3 on Archbishop Perez’ Facebook. Nights 1 and 2 are already on the Kearns Vimeo site I posted above.
